Been coming here...5 or 6 years? Finally decided to give a review as my feelings have changed on the location.
It's really gone downhill in the last year or so. I used to come in every day to get my coffee before classes and the occasional meal. Everyone was really nice and actually knew me after a bit and it felt nice to have a place to go to for studying and work and I didn't feel like I was taking up space when all I could afford was a cup of coffee and sit there for hours. Food was always delicious, atmosphere was AMAZING and the staff was super friendly. This was always my #1 recommendation for a café and breakfast in the city to anyone I could brag about the place to.
Well that's changed a lot since then. Mind you I spent my entire undergrad coming here.
I've noticed in the past year it's really not as friendly as it once was, as I still came here since starting my career. All the familiar faces I knew are gone and the staff that's replaced are not friendly or inviting. They're really not. It makes me sad to see other reviews reflect the same opinion. They're very short, and it feels like an inconvenience to stand there thinking about my order if I have to. I haven't sat down to eat there since last summer due to how the vibe had changed and switched mainly to to-go orders as I still wanted to support the business. But as of late even going to get my to-go order just feels off. You don't even get acknowledged half the time anymore and even if you do it just feels forced.
The baked oatmeal is still amazing, and the food is still pretty good. But I don't know...cafes in the city really don't have the same warm and inviting atmosphere as they once did. Starbucks is in fact more friendly and I find that same warmness I used to feel here there.

Best yoghurt parfait my daughter and I ever had. Really good breakfast sandwiches as well!!!

Perfect place for good, fresh and quick lunch. Our table got the Greccian salad. It was huge and very fresh. Also the Plymouth sandwich-again very generous portion and delicious ciabatta. Lastly the Shakshura since breakfast is served all day--the tomato base was hearty and full of flavors. Buttered crispy bread cleaned up the bowl nicely!

In town for business and our hotel recommended the Cafe for breakfast and we were not disappointed. Had the Baja breakfast. We will be returning for breakfast for the rest of our stay!!!

Cute café with a tasty menu! I had a plain latte and the Baja breakfast, and both were delicious.

I've been going to Cafe One Eight since 2013. It's still my favorite place downtown. The food is farm fresh and healthy, Chai is my favorite drink. The staff is always friendly and professional. They really care about their customers. And the actual location is beautiful. I rented the space for an event a while ago and it was perfect. I always invite friends and family anytime their in town.

We went here twice while visiting Lancaster and loved everything we ate! French toast, oatmeal, yogurt bowl, and egg breakfast were all amazing. Great coffee too!

Very disappointing customer service and food with no taste. I ordered an avocado toast. The bread wasn’t toasted and the avocado was hard with no salt or pepper. I ordered the chicken soup with was watery with no taste. They didn’t want to exchange or refund me the food. I was willing to just switch it out with something else but they didn’t care about the customer experience and said there is nothing they can do. They just took my plate away and charged me anyways. The coffee was good but the food really tasteless. I don’t know how this place has good reviews

I've always enjoyed my trips to Cafe One Eight. The staff is very friendly, reliable internet, great atmosphere. I love their scones, and all of the drinks are good options. (Seriously, all of the food and drinks are great!)
If I had a word of warning, it would be rush hours. Everyone loves this place, which can make it quite busy, particularly mornings and lunch. An excellent choice of Cafes, but don't expect Starbucks-level speed. However, speed is sacrificed for quality, so not a bad trade at all.
