Ive been here many times. Food is good, but service is always a little slow. Its a small town, so that is to be expected. Today we went in and ordered. My wife ordered coffee, i ordered coke. I got my drink right away. They forgot our coffee. Our waitress asked another server/busgirl to help get it for her. The other waitress had no tables and there were only two in the entire restaurant. The second waitress said "I cant, im busy setting silverware." Our waitress took the other tables order and went back to the kitchen to put it in. We walked out after that. If silverware and sidework are more important than customer service - and that attitude is a perfectly acceptable answer and indicative of the restaurant- then I guess we won't be back. It's too bad. In small towns you have to vote with your dollars.

Probably one of the best breakfasts I had on a recent road trip. Our server was attentive and good at her job. She also let me charge my phone after I'd been out camping for a few days. This was much appreciated. I'll stop by this restaurant next time I'm in Lagrande.

In short: food, service, & cleanliness were less than adequate

In detail: I wish we had walked out upon arrival, but we wanted to give the place a chance as we'd yet to find a good breakfast option in town. What a terrible experience all around!
When we first walked in we were told that we were in the way by a server twice. The second time we asked her if we could sit somewhere and she looked around the corner & said that the table there needed to be cleaned and then she gestured to the table right next to us & said, "or you can sit there, it doesn't really matter to me." It seemed like she didn't really want us sitting at the already-set table, but after showing us that we were in her way yet a third time, we sat at it anyhow. It should be said that this was at what we assumed to be the front door; apparently there is another door on the side of the building, but there was no sign on the front door suggesting that we use the other and several people came through the same door after us.
After settling in, a very friendly woman (seemed like an owner or manager) came around with some menus and brought us coffee, so I was put to ease a bit that first server was not an indication as to what we should expect. Then we ended up with a 3rd server who was competent & didn't treat us like a burden, but I can't say much beyond that.
The coffee was bad enough that I, an otherwise avid consumer, got only one cup. All of the creamers were of the non-dairy variety, a personal pet peeve, but what was far worse was that it was months past the expiration date on 2 of them and a 3rd one had what appeared to be a dried-up booger on it... I wish I was exaggerating. I asked for milk.
The food. I never expect to be truly thrilled with a standard diner breakfast, especially as a vegetarian, but wow. I went with the strawberry cream waffles, denoted on the menu as a house favorite and described as being smothered in whipped cream with a drizzle of fresh strawberry sauce. Said drizzle had to be at least half a cup & as for the freshness... in the sense that once upon a time the strawberries that were in it were fresh? Sure. But it was a thickened, viscous syrup and the amount of it was disgusting. My husband had a breakfast sandwich that had a hollandaise sauce on it that he said tasted like it had been thickened with flour.
They somehow had really good orange juice, tho... I will say that.
We left there feeling gross enough that we will not be rolling the dice in hopes that it was just an unusually poor experience. Neither of us are huge fans of the quality at Denny's, but we highly recommend going there instead.
I'm giving it 2 stars based on the friendliness of the woman who gave us our menus and also that of the ladies at the counter where the register was, but we will definitely not be going back.

This place has the best home cooked breakfast. I come from our of town to visit and we eat here every time. I love the food. Same great service, always packed with people.

I love this restaurant! Great food, large portions, coffee before you ask! Breakfast is a blessing and they ask modest prices. I have never had a bad experience here and the smiles are immediate which tells me they love working for this place.

Great food and great service. They are always friendly and the food is always consistent. Prices are good and so is portion size. Service is fast, speedy and efficient. I always enjoy coming here.

The food here is always good, and the service is great. I'm a big fan of the huckleberry pancakes, and the eggs Benedict. There's a large fish tank in the banquet room that my toddler loves to visit as well ☺️ so there's an entertainment factor for the littles.

Great service, great food! You get what you pay for! Perfect portion sizes for a hungry lumberjack! (Or my hungry wife) delicious, "seafood omelette," full of crab, and covered in hollandaise!

Great great great food!! Love their huckleberry pancake! Great staff, the gals here are super nice... It out of the way and a hole in the wall but one of the best breakfast I have ever had

Don't let the front of the building discourage you. The food was great. We had the fried steak and rhe 4oz steak and they were divine. The service was excellent. Highly recommend.
