Happyrock Coffee Roasting Co

A friend recommended the Storm of the Black Bear, and it came in yesterday. Beautiful bloom, rich, gets complex after a couple of minutes of infusion (I use a pour over). One of the best dark roasts I've ever had. Seems to like a medium grind--too coarse and you'll lose some flavor. It was $19 for 12 oz. shipped, comparable to third wave beans locally, equal or better quality. I will be trying some other blends from Happyrock.

I had a great experience recently when they were super busy. I love the cozy seating area and the eclectic decor. It was also nice to see local people from my neighborhood too. It's become the local gathering place for many of us. Great drinks too!

Yikes! Ordered a hot Chocolate and it was cold. Ordered a chai tea latte with a shot and it came iced which was weird and they didn't have club soda for the Italian soda so recommend the black tea as a replacement and that wasn't good. My husband was happy with his coffee but for $18 I definitely wasn't impressed! I won't be back.

This is an amazing small batch craft coffee roaster. All the coffee is wonderful but my favorite is Darkness of Divinity. The staff here is always awesome! In addition this place has the largest selection of hard cider in bottles and cans in this area and Clackamas co. In general.

This place is cozy and awesome! Friendly great service, variety of drinks (not just coffee). There's a back courtyard that's roomy and full of knick knacks. I'm excited for Heavy Metal Knitting on Fridays!
Great place for studying/getting work done.

3 stars. I really try to like and support this place since it’s local. I’ll buy beans on occasion but I tend to leave this place frustrated over 50% of the time. It’s slightly more expensive than coffee shops in Oregon City that have much nicer atmosphere and the service, while not terrible often doesn’t appear to be driven by customer satisfaction. Yet another example of this occurred this morning. I order an iced latte. I was handed my beverage with an apology that they’re out of ice - meaning I left with a room temperature milk. I realize that sometimes things happen, but they sure seems to happen a lot at Happyrock. I feel like anywhere else would have known not to do this - if this is uncommon and a surprise, apologize for the inconvenience and offer/ ask if I’d like something else, the business won’t suffer over $5 and you kept my future business. Ideally, tell me beforehand. If you’re routinely running out of ice, this could be an opportunity for a better fix (make it in house). Unless you’re looking to walk to your destination, I’d recommend the Grano or Black Ink in OC until things change.

Holy cow! I'm from Salem but am trying to learn Portland since I recently started a new job here. This places is ahhhh-mazing!!! Sure, the appearance is hip and cool, but the coffee is legitimately freaking delish! Plus, they stock awesome tasting bagels, don't skimp on the cream cheese, and the prices are impressive. I highly, highly recommend this place!!!!!

I can't say enough good things about this place. Coffee is on point. The staff is amazing. Creative drinks! Yummy! You can get sweet drinks here but they don't rely on syrup to make their coffee good. It's good black!

Outstanding coffee and service. Mexican Mocha & Dirty Hippie ate my favorites. I highly recommend Darkness of Divinity & Storm of The Black Bear beans. I must stop every time I visit from Connecticut

I have been to more than two hundred coffee establishments all over the world, but I must say gladstone's Happyrock Coffee has won me over all the rest. Lisa has the perfect blend of roasting down to a science, and is far superior to anything else around. Good luck and keep up the good work!
