Waited over 30 minutes for a bagel and coffee. Seems they're a bit understaffed.

Place looks nice. I order the chicken croissant sandwich. It was super hard and not enought chiken salad in it for the price you pay. My husbands Roast beef and cheddar sandwich was good. Maybe ill give it another try but not sure yet.

Very nice, clean, and modern cafe. Excellent service, the food was very good, and we had a great time. Went to have lunch with my friend and we loved it. We’ll definitely be back soon! Want to go back at night and enjoy the live music and beer!! It’s just awesome that we finally have a place like this, right here at Franklinton downtown!!

I go there to work twice a week. This place is just AMAZING. I do love how the owners are very welcoming and accommodating. On top of that, The messages on those wall decors make me smile. Oh, dont forget to try their chocolate chip muffin!

Fantastic place! The service and food are outstanding. Coffee is the best around and the sandwiches are great. It’s the place to go for breakfast/lunch in Franklinton!

Beautiful, upscale coffee/beer/deli shop. You have to see it! I had the turkey/bacon/cheese Salad, with homemade ranch dressing ~ and everything about it was perfect!
Coffee was Great too, and the service is super friendly. 😊

We love Mason & Main. Wonderful staff that are always super nice. We love the hometown atmosphere and the outdoor cooking teamed up with The Owl's Roost. Couldn't ask for better people!

Owners displayed open hostility towards Muslim patron when she inquired about the kind of meat in her pasta salad.

Patron asked the male owner about the kind of meat in her pasta salad, and the male owner replied that it was pork. The patron informed him that she does not eat pork because she is Muslim. Then, suddenly the female owner appeared and snatched the pasta salad out of her hand, and both owners retreated to the kitchen.

The patron was stunned. She was not sure what was going on. The staff just disappeared into the kitchen. After 15 minutes the patron asked for assistance. The female owner appeared, and the patron asked if she could have a similar side dish without pork. The male owner, then, came flying out of the kitchen and said in a short and abrupt manner, "No! Anytime you order that dish here it will have pork." The patron became nervous and scared by the male owner's hostile demeanor, and said, "Fine. Then, I will take my business else where." The male owner told the patron to leave immediately and that he was calling the police.

Originally, after this patron suspected that there was pork in the pasta salad, she was going to just eat her sandwich, drink her coffee, and then leave. However, I encouraged the patron to try and build a relationship with the owners by letting them know that she is Muslim and that she does not eat pork; because, she planned to be a regular there. She recently moved to the area from Saudi Arabia, and she is doing her dissertation for her PhD. I informed her that this is how small towns work. Unfortunately, I am from a small town in Western New York, and I took for granted the openness and respect that we have for others up there, and unfortunately, this patron was introduced to the faux southern hospitality that is extended to others who may not look, sound, or dress like them.

In sum, the owners did not value this customer; the owners valued her so little that they called the police on her for requesting a side dish without pork. Customer service requires empathy, taking responsibility, and solving problems. These owners did none of that. They could have simply apologized and offered a new side, but no. Instead, they became defensive, aggressive, and told her to leave and called the police. What crime did she commit? If she asked for a gluten free side, a vegetarian option, or a vegan option, would the owners have treated her the same and called the police?

What is worse is these owners left a lasting impression on this young lady's experience in America. She will recount this experience to her family and friends in Saudi Arabia. This will form an impression in their minds of America, its people, and its culture. What a shame.

***Update*** Now, you will notice reviews shortly around the time that this review was posted. Folks are trying to discredit this patron's experience. The owners have every opportunity to reach out this patron and apologize. They have not, however.
