Ate one bagel and within two hours became incredibly sick for the rest of the day with vomiting and diarrhea. Only had coffee from home with the bagel that morning. Tasted okay. Perhaps their baker was not clean or the area in which customers use the toaster and "dress" their own bagels with prepakaged butter and cream cheese was unsanitary from another customer or employee? Either way I will NEVER go back.

Had a great experience here. Good food (bagels were sold out cause I got there a bit later) they had awesome muffins and cinnamon rolls, and...great coffee. I'll go back. Staff was courteous.

Starbucks has nothing on 4 J's! This LOCAL coffee, shop is what real coffee is all about! The owner Joe, also knows his baked goods, offering homemade deserts, and oh the muffins - YUM! I also love the berry bowls!

I always make time to stop at 4 J's when I'm visiting my parents who live on Emerald Isle. 4 J's have a great selection of teas, spices, deserts, coffee and other beverages. I'm a tea drinker so I especially enjoy their extensive selection of teas. Additionally the staff at 4 J's are friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend checking out 4 J's you won't be disappointed.

Edible and drinkable but not enjoyable.
The iced coffee was just hot coffee with ice cubes, resulting in a lukewarm, disgusting mixture.
Inside is incredibly loud and filled with random merchandise.
Staff was friendly enough but not enough to make up for the terrible ambiance and drinks.

Latte was not very good. They wouldn't add sugar behind the counter while making it. The barista was a jerk when I asked him a question. Bagels and pastries were good. However, you have to slice your own bagel with a plastic knife and toast it yourself in a toaster.

I just left this place and the young lady behind the coffe bar was one of the most delightful people I’ve met! Awesome friendly smile and eager to make my 4 shots of espresso! And btw she was just as beautiful as her smile !

If you want a fresh bagel you'd better get there early. They arrive at 6 and by 730 most of the sesame bagels were gone. There are lots of other breakfast carbs to choose from. No protein (eggs) for breakfast though; this is a coffee place. Very comfortable and with Wifi; so you can settle into a couch and enjoy your coffee. A nice way to start the day. Apparently open all year around except Xmas day.

Tourists beware!
If you get the owner, expect wonderful customer service and straight information, but the other employees can't be said to be so reliable. Went in to buy a key lime pie and specifically said that I did not want a key lime "pie" cheesecake - they told me they had one pie left in the freezer, in a box so that it couldn't be seen. I mentioned the cheesecake pie and how I had gotten it before there and they tried to sell me the cheesecake pie anyway as if it was the whipped, light, limey delight I wanted.
On another note, there was a key lime cheesecake in the display case and I noticed that she went for the covered up one in the freezer instead of it. I don't want to say that she picked the one in the box so that I wouldn't see it - I don't want to suggest that they tried to sell us a different product because we were tourists and they thought we wouldn't know better - and I don't want to say that they tried this because it was right before close and we wouldn't be able to come back and exchange it if we had left with the cheesecake. I don't want to accuse these things, but it very much felt like it. As a result I checked the would-be pie before I left, found out it was a cheesecake, and got a refund before leaving - I went down the street to Captain Willis's Seafood Market and got an excellent, actual key lime pie - light, whipped, and in a pie crust - for half the price of the large lime cheesecake the girls at 4J tried to sell me. Very dissatisfied, but the owner is very nice and the last time I was here he didn't try to disguise the fact that their "pie" is a key lime pie themed cheesecake.
I hope the owner finds better employees, because I had a great experience of this place until today. 2/5 because the owner is great and the key lime cheesecake is tasty despite the scheisty sales attempt I experienced today.

They NO LONGER SELL BAGELS. Drove all the way here because their website shows they sell NY bagels and we were told “we don’t do them anymore.” It looked like a cool little shop, there were random things to buy (like canned frosting, cooking utensils and pans, candy) and a big seating area to hang out. Girl working the counter wasn’t very nice. If anyone else feels they wasted their time coming out here, go across the street to Stir It Up Cafe for bagels and coffee.
