Stopped by on a Thursday, 30 minutes before closing. The barista was extremely friendly and helped me select 1 pound of roasted beans. The location was easy to find, with parking available right next to the front door. the decor was modern and tasteful.
I bought 1 pound of the Peru medium-dark roast. I brewed it the following morning and the coffee tasted excellent. That being said, coffee flavors are a personal preference, so buy to your tastes, not mine! The beans looked like good quality, no broken pieces and a consistent color.
I would recommend this place if you are looking to buy roasted coffee! I have not tried their brewed coffee yet, so I will save that review for another time.

My favorite coffee shop in Asheville, especially for buying beans. Their espresso roast is my favorite. I wish they had some additional breakfast options but it's not abnormal for breakfast foods to be an afterthought at great coffee houses.

Most delicious! My favorite is the Lox smoke salmon on an everything bagel. Had it 3 days in a row and also love the veggie on everything bagel as well. They have the best coffee and large variety. Well done

A genuinely good cup of coffee, some of the best I've had in a long time. Couple it with banana bread so rich and delicious that you can actually taste the banana and you have yourself a great morning breakfast.
Currently only allowing takeout with service one at a time. Feels clean and safe.

Nice little place but was disappointed in the coffee itself. By the review stars I thought I was visiting the best coffee roaster in Asheville but I think it was the place and people that earned it the great review and not the product.

Best espresso pull I've ever had, smooth and yummy. Also got the superadlatte and that was really great.
PennyCup supplies coffee to all the Asheville breweries/restaurants, going to the source was great and we got to enjoy the surrounding arts district too.

Really cool craft coffee roaster in a funky neighborhood. They seem to be a bit of a start up, learning as they go. The coffee is well roasted, and they have both unique blends as well as single origin varietals. The coffee service is decent, and their espresso shots are on point. The one thing I wish they did was create more of a story about the coffees on their labels (like offering tasting notes, elevation, processing, etc.). Like I said, they seem like a new-ish coffee roaster, and seem very aware and knowledgeable about creating a great product.

After going to several of the coffee tasting events, I have gained a new interest and learned quite a bit about the origins and subtle flavors of the beans through the experience of the knowledgeable staff here. I like the industrial setting of the Depot street location and that you can actually see the roasting in progress while trying various selections. I would recommend this venue for ordering drinks, sitting inside to enjoy, as well as a source for fresh roasted beans by the pounds.

We stopped in for coffee before heading out to do some hiking and loved it so much we made sure we stopped in the next day before we left town. Next time we are in Asheville we will definitely come back again!

Excellent coffee that can be found in many of Asheville hot spot eateries. Fan favorite in the river arts!
