A barista with short hair and glasses working on December 13, 2020 from this location JUST MADE ME CRY after I ordered my coffee on my way out from this coffeeshop. I am still crying with my heart beating so fast. You have no right to ruin a customer’s day like this. I never cried because of a treatment I received from a food/coffee establishment in my life. I can’t believe Stumptown is letting such mean people work at their location. And I have been a loyal customer for the past 3 years.

Good coffee and good barista but completely overshadowed by the lousy and rude service at the till. Fair warning - do not ask for sugar in your coffee and god forbid you ask her to stir it in (or even ask for a stirrer)..strict no no..apparently the rest of the world does not like their sugar mixed in..who knew..coffee without the service - just not worth it..maybe i'll go back in a years time and if the lady at the till is not around, will def. go and get the coffee..ah yes..i was handed the almond croissant (which was also nice) without any fuss..i presume because i took it without uttering a word.. ah well..

Amazing shop design. Cozy ambience with plenty of space to sit down, grab a cup of delicious coffee and work if you have to.
They also have standing desks for those who want to mix it up a bit.
Highly recommend this coffee shop if you’re in the area.

I have never received such humiliating treatment by a service industry establishment to the point where I broke into tears and cried before. Hoping to have a relaxing Sunday, I was called a "trespasser" and kicked out from this establishment after I purchased a $6.80 latte "leave right now, right now!! You are trespassing, I need you to just leave". The lady with short hair wearing glasses literally kicked me out on December 13, 2020 afternoon around 2:15PM as I was pausing for 2 minutes at the exit area trying to figure out on Google maps where I could go next after getting some coffee. She came near me twice with such contempt in her eyes and told me 'you are trespassing', and humiliated me in front of everyone, and required my most immediate leave. I am a loyal Stumptown customer for the past 3 years since I moved to NYC area, I even have the Portland mug I bought from Oregon back in February, and I have been taking all of my guests to this place. I am shaking right now as I write this review. I have my mask on and the intermittent area at this location has open doors. The pandemic should be the time to be nice to people, not an excuse to be mean and kick customers out with such demeaning attitude. You could come here thinking you are enjoying your lovely Sunday afternoon, and a barista literally kicking you out from the coffeeshop you just purchased coffee from could make you burst into tears and ruin your day. You have no right to treat me this way, I am not a street drunkard walking inside the coffeeshop to disturb the peace so you can kick me out as if I am one, not a spectacle you can embarrass in front of other people waiting in line, I am a paying customer who purchased a $6.80 latte and I have done nothing wrong to receive this humiliating treatment.

I came here at the end of a long day because I hadn't had any coffee at all, and it was late, and I also wanted a place to do homework. And I was going to order regular coffee because I'm spending way too much money on coffee, but then I realized I don't know how to oder just a regular cup of coffee, and their menu wasn't very clear, maybe it was under "Drip," but that seems like such a diner way to refer to coffee, so I chickened out and just ordered a soy latte. It wasn't bustling in there, but every single seat was taken, and new people kept coming in, I waited at a standing counter for a while until a table opened up, but eventualy I gave up and left because I wasn't the only one waiting either. I feel that for the size of the place, they could have more seating. It really is a cool building with three different rooms, the first one is seating, and then into the coffee bar, and then one more in the back which had more seating, but little tables, so only one person could sit at a table if they were doing laptop work. There wasn't even a communal table. But as to other reviews mentioning how the music was too loud to get work done, I did notice that the music was at a good volume now.
As for the coffee, the first sip tasted funny, and as I kept drinking, I realized that it tasted like molasses, which I don't know what was up with that, but I wouldn't get it again.

Atmosphere is great, coffee is good, WiFi is terrible, staff is nice, but I nearly threw up from the breakfast burrito which turned out to be microwaved and not made fresh. When I told them it smelled and tasted rotten, they said they come in 2 or 3 days ago and they’ll “check the others to see if they’ve gone bad.” Didn’t even offer any sort of refund.

Best addition to our hood in the last year. My favorite coffee place. Best coffee, people and always feels like I’m coming home to Portland. This is truly what a coffee shop should feel like.
