Order wrong, incredibly rude staff when asked to correct it. Called in a to-go order from my office. When I attempted to order my usual Egg Benedict with two different variations (as their menu boasts 4 different variations) I was told that this couldn't be done (even though it has been done about once or twice a month for the past year) because it was "too hard". I then proceeded to order the Smoked Salmon Benedict (per the menu: "2 poached eggs topped with smoked salmon, cream cheese, grilled tomatoes aand red onions on a toasted English muffin, covered with hollendaise sauce & served with hash browns") with a side of avocado and extra hollendaise sauce (was asked to "wait a moment, I have to find those buttons", which is understandable if the person taking the order is new) as well as the Eggs Florentine and a bagel with cream cheese spread. I went to pick up the order and returned to my office to find that the Smoked Salmon Benedict was just a plain Eggs Benedict. I left my office and went back to the restaurant to get my order corrected. When I went in and asked for the manager on duty, it was the same person who mistook my order over the phone, and had to "find the buttons" on the screen to place my order. Really?? This is the manager on duty?? She pulled up the order on the screen and insisted that I received the order I placed. I explained that I had ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict, not plain Eggs Benedict, and asked that it be corrected. On top of the $33.02 I had already paid, I was charged an additional $7.54. Once the charge was completed, the "manager" then proceeded to dump sheeted salmon straight out of the refridgerator on top of my hot order and hand it back to me. I explained that I ordered Smoked Salmon Benedict, so it also needed the cream cheese, tomato, and onion to make the dish complete. She then said that she only charged me for the salmon ($7.54 for cold salmon dumped on my hot order). I asked her again to correct my order. She took the container of food and added a scoop of cold cream cheese out of the refridgerator onto a corner of the container, and again tried to hand it back to me. I had to insist on the tomato and onion. This was also taken out of the refridgerator and, while these items are served sliced and layered in the benedict, she began to dice the tomato and onion. I asked her what she was doing. She snarked back "I'm adding what you're asking for, even though YOU ordered wrong". At this point I just asked for the box back and thanked her for the fact that not only did I have to tell her, the "manager", what should be in the dish she messed up, I'd now have to put it together properly myself. If you've ever wondered if Smoked Salmon benedict tastes good served completely cold due to ingredients being added straight from the refridgerator, I can assure you it does not. Nor does it help to microwave it, which was my only option as I was at work. I have no idea what has happened to the amazing food and friendly staff that can usually be found here. Either the owner is oblivious to the lack of customer service, or they just don't care. I'm sure that the one to two meals for the 3 to 5 people that order from our office probably won't be missed, but I'm sure that will multiply if this is the new norm at NY Deli Northside. Thank goodness for the Southside location, where I have never had anythign other than excellent food and wonderfully accomdating service.

Best bagels I've ever had. Great breakfast in general

Excellent breakfast and even better service! I had the Eggs Yucatecos special and was very pleased. Hopefully this dish makes the permanent menu. Bagels were great too!

I've been to both locations several times each. They do good burgers, and have the best blintzes I've found outside of NYC. A couple of years ago they expanded the menu to include Near East items (falafel, and the like). They don't know how to do that type of food, it's much too greasy--avoid! The service is good, except one member of the staff is TOO friendly, too personal, inappropriate. This is a problem with waitstaff and cashiers I've only run into in Santa Fe, not sure why, but NY Deli has lost my business because of it.

All i can do is blame the possible shortage of workers.? 20 minutes for someone to take our order, 30 minutes to GET the order and 8 minutes to "get the ticket" made for somewhat of an unpleasant experience at this deli. Although the food was ok.

We've been coming here for years. Lately food has been cold. Today waiter stopped to chat with another customer with the extra bagel I ordered in his hand. I waited patiently and didn't complain. Time to try the deli on the Southside.

My friends and I enjoyed the variety offered here. They had huge salads and we had yummy sandwiches. Also have gluten free bread. It was within walking distance from our lodging. You can sit inside or outside.

The waiter was working hard. But we waited 30 minutes for eggs. It seems the cook didn’t like him, or a some relationship problem. So the cook delayed our meal to make the waiter look bad. Manager... you need to manage.

I agree with the person who said this place has the worst service!! At least at the to-go counter -- they make it seem like they are doing you a favor: rude; shorted me on the change and when pointed out, didn't acknowledge it, just grabbed it from the tip jar; messed up my order and never once said a word to me as I watched them arguing with the chef... Unimpressive. The reason for the second star is because the food was better than the service....

The eggs benedict is delicious! Steven the waiter did a math problem for me and saved the day! I definitely suggest you check this place out. the art is awesome, and the vibe is great. Totally worth your time and money!
