Cute place but food is disgusting..
Over cooked, sticky bland rice, chicken is out of the can, refried beans out of the car.
I'm getting sick as we are leaving.

The food here was outstanding and had the chicken chimichangas you get two of them on one order and the green chili is really good too the service is good I would definitely go here again

Very good New Mexican food. I could never get tired of the selection of food on the menu ( highly recommend eating breakfast here). The food style is very home cooked with all the cozy vibes included. The service is very friendly and the waitress stops by frequently. It may look packed from the outside but inside it is always roomy. Any time I pass through, I like to stop here.

We were traveling through New Mexico from Arizona. I asked a long time resident in Grants for the best Mexican restaurant in town. He recommended El Cafecito.
When we got there we were seated and I asked what beer they had on tap. The waitress said they don’t serve beer, I don’t know if that is the restaurants policy or a New Mexico law.
I ordered a chili relleno and tamale with
rice and beans. My wife ordered carnitas tacos with rice and beans.
Service was quick but neither of our orders was hot. Warm at best. My relleno was good and the tamale was also good. Would of been much better if it was hot. My wife’s tacos were small with very little meat. She said they were so so. The rice on both our plates was like soup and the small dab of beans were bland.
Plus chips and salsa don’t come with the meal. They’re an extra $2.50.
I’m afraid I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Not sure why this restaurant gets high ratings. My husband and I stopped here for lunch while we were on the road headed to Arizona. We had high hopes that it would be a good place to eat after all the rave reviews that we read. We both ordered enchiladas beef and chicken. They were just okay, nothing special. I asked for sour cream because didn't come with any in the waitress said that would be a dollar extra. I'm totally fine with being charged more for an item that I asked for but to be charged $ 1 for a small spoon sour cream is ridiculous. Also she told us we could get both red and green chili sauce since we aren't familiar with either of those sauces , being from the Midwest. She neglected to tell us that it was extra if we ordered both. It really makes me angry when someone offers us something and neglects to tell us that we have to pay extra for it. So almost $30 for our enchiladas, two Cokes, and ships which aren't free with your meal, we left feeling really let down. Would not recommend this restaurant.

Food tasted amazing. Spanish rice was a little on the wet side, but every place does it different. It's never like mom's Spanish rice. The rellenos were very tasty with the right amount of heat. Good value for what you get and the server was very nice. We will definitely be back. Covid note: all servers and kitchen Personnel that we could see we're very good at wearing their masks. Felt like a safe place to eat.

It has been a long time since I've sat at table with friends and shared a meal. That alone was a treat. Make no mistake this 5 star review is made because El Cafecito is doing thing right. I had the house combination plate taco, enchilada, and Chimichanga? that right chmichingow! New Mexican Cuisine on point. Great staff comfortable atmosphere. Kudos.

While vacationing in New Mexico in Sept 2019, My son took me to El Cafecito for my 62nd birthday. I totally loved the service, as I am a waitress myself. The food was delicious and we chose a lot from the menu. I chatted with the owner a bit and felt he took a lot of pride in his business. I was extremely surprised by the affordability of the menu. I will definitely go there again on my next trip.

Stopped to eat here on our way home from Sedona to Albuquerque and this place was a great place to eat! The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and our food came out super fast! We will definitely stop here again!

Ordered 2 combo plates, came with 1 chimi each and then they just threw 3 tacos in the bag. The combo plate is 1 chimi, enchilada, and 1 taco for reference. We arrived 10 minutes late admittedly but specifically my plate had either been overcooked to the point of it being inedible or it was just very old. The other one was fine, so I'm fairly certain it was just very old. This place used to be pretty good, not sure what changed. Definitely not coming back though, every time I've come here in the last year its been bad and I'm tired of spending money at this establishment to give it another chance.
