Was there a few weekends back looking for a great single origin coffee. The barista there, I think his name was Ricky, helped me find the perfect one for me! It was delicious. He was so patient and took his time to really understand what I was looking for. Can't wait to go back.

Their fruity cold brew coffee is incredibly delicious!

If you really appreciate coffee, this is the place. If you are unsure, ask them - they do a wonderful job of explaining each of their roasts and how they taste, it’s not just posh speak. It’s good coffee, period.

I think coffee is manageable however the attitude and hospitality of staff and owner is terrible.
They have problem altering the recipe to your taste.
Both the barista and the owner (usually roasting beans there) have high superiority complex and try to lock horns with you during any conversation. Owner is kind of a brag and rants about his (not so popular) cafe and his knowledge about beans and roasting process.
Cafe is located at a quiet and closed corner of the town hence not too many people knows about it.

I recently tried the Secret Affair espresso blend. It’s an incredible everyday coffee. Bright and fruity and also dark and rich. Good price point and a lot going with this one.

My first visit to modcup was fantastic! Chris asked me a few questions about my preferences and then recommended a few different coffee choices. He also helped me pick out a bag of seasonal roasted beans to enjoy at home which turned out to be delicious! Thanks for the great experience, Chris! I live in the neighborhood and had no idea this place existed. I’ll definitely be back!

Definitely my favorite coffee shop in Jersey City. They are also the best roaster here. The staff makes an effort to get to know you, what you like, and what new things you might like to try. Everything is simple and nothing is overpriced. I love all the music references too!

Great neighborhood coffee shop. Everyone is always so friendly, happy, and helpful. It’s also a comfortable coffee shop to work at.

Great place for happy hour. Everyone here is friendly...the servers and Manager John and was very attentive to everyone especially to our table. I had the mussels and margarita flat bread as appetizers and it tasted amazing. I work nearby and would certainly come back to try more of their menu!

Very minimal menu. They don't have a station where you can add milk or sugar, so they charge you if you want a splash of milk in your cold brew. I love their merch and their quality beans, just wish their menu was bigger.
