Very nostalgic with beautiful antique wooden booths and decor. Sandwiches were served warm with a very light, homemade bread which complemented the filling but, wasn't like a heavy sourdough. Highly recommend the combination with ham, corned beef, and salami. You MUST have the Beer Cheese Soup too. Damn near the best we've ever tasted. Only wish there was complimentary popcorn to top it with!

Super delicious German potato, and sausage soup! Pita was extraordinary, tasty and delicious! Cozy environment in historic downtown North Field. A definite must if your traveling through town.

I've heard of this place for a year, and finally made it in for lunch today. Bustling with activity and lots of customers. Friendly staff and attentive to their customers. Loved the Lift Bridge Root Beer on tap! Ordered the corn beef and cup of the sausage and German potato soup. Really enjoyed the soup! Delicious flavors and very hearty! The bread on which the sandwich was made was equally good. Very fresh and complimented the sandwich. Sadly, the amount of corned beef on the sandwich left much to be desired. The meat didn't even reach from one end of the roll to the other just the salad. Next time I'll try the roast beef.

The sandwich was good. I had a half hoagie and cup of beer cheese soup. Unfortunately, the tray they brought it out on was very dirty. Also, because of remodeling in the kitchen area at the time, they had no hot beverages. They had art from local artists on the walls. Old style dark wood booths and tables. It's cozy. Prices are good. Serving sizes are generous.

Nice soup and sandwich place. Like an upscale Jimmy John's.

If you choose bench seating out of view, you may have to go up to the counter to check on if your food isn't delivered after waiting a long time and when it's really busy. Even so, the food is HOT and SO delicious!

They have the best fresh bread... you smell it as soon as you walk in! My favorite hoagies! Even though it may not appear busy (many places to sit), they are. Typically wait in line a few minutes to place your order and typically 5-10 minutes to make your sandwich.

Very busy for lunch. The staff still managed to get everyone moved through quickly, and our order was brought out very quickly. The food was very good!

It was crowded so I won't hold the wait against them. We ordered 4 sandwiches. One came with an appropriate amount of filling, one had half the topping of the first, and two came with 2 thin slices of meat and a half a slice of cheese each even though the were half sandwiches with everything. We received only 1 of 2 cups of soup and it was the wrong kind. Eventually after waiting outside the prep area for a while we got the 2nd cup. While it was the right kind, beer cheese with crunchy carrots wasn't good and didn't get eaten. We ended up going somewhere else and ordering another lunch. Not worth the effort or money.

One of the best places for soups, sandwiches, and ice cream in Northfield. I always order extra meat on their sanwiches. It doesn't cost much more, and otherwise it's pretty skimpy. Great home made bread.
