Hidden inside this unassuming cinder block building is a gem of a breakfast place. You can enjoy poached eggs on top of avocado toast, french toast that will have everyone's mouth watering, or omelettes with whole slices of bacon and ham.

We found this on our last day in Sawyer, but if we'd found it earlier, we would have eaten here more than once for sure.

Outdoor seating was available and the staff was clean, cautious, and friendly.

Nice, casual place with sandwiches and breakfast. Had both (two visits). On our breakfast visit they forgot our coffees, so gave us a giant piece of coffee cake. It was fantastic. I am stopping in next time I am in the area to hunt down that coffee cake.

Stopped here for breakfast on our way to Chicago. The entire family agreed that this was one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had. Service and food was phenomenal!

Incredibly friendly service. Comfortable atmosphere with calm music, plenty of seating without being crowded. Clean bathrooms... And the food is excellent too! Highly recommended, especially when paired with a trip to the Dunes.

We had a nice breakfast here before going to Holland for the day. The waitress was nice and friendly. Our food was delicious and we left very satisfied! What a nice place to eat!

My family was treated horribly. My nephew dropped food on the floor and the manager was livid and told us to never come back. We come here on vacation once a year and love this place, but not anymore. The waiters and manager completely overacted and told us to leave.

Food selection was so great my granddaughter and I ordered different sandwiches and shared 1/2 of each. I still can't decide if the Italian or the chicken salad was the best. The staff was very pleasant.

This is the perfect stop for a refreshing meal and amazing coffee. Absolutely in love with this place ❤️

Update: stopped to get olives, muffins, and seasoning today, I knew they were at least open until 3. I pulled up at a quarter till thinking it's an in and out purchase, should be out before close. NOPE. They "close" before close, so they can close by 3. I walked up to the door and the closed sign was up, diners still outside. By time I got home it still wasn't 3. They literally could have added another at least $40 sale to their day with still closing on time. When I'm craving something I'll just go to frolichs in three oaks from now on to save the disappointment.

Awesome food, great service!! My girlfriend and I are on a girls weekend trip. We so enjoyed Peasant Pantry, small establishment but friendly service & good food. Highly recommended!!!

Pros- An alternative to the Travel Center and basic fast food options, The PP offers a variety of uniquely structured sandwich options. It is located on Red Arrow Hwy just off Interstate I-94. With a Farmhouse take on décor and the light Jazz music that plays inside, you are presented with a relaxing environment. The seating inside the restaurant is plentiful and spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Cons- Ironically the name "The Peasant's Pantry" doesn't quite match the menu prices. Your standard size sandwich with a side of fries or choice of chips or a fruit cup will start out at a cost of $10 (drinks to be purchased separately) with an upwards of $13 for a sandwich and side. The kids menu is limited to 3 items (hotdog, grilled cheese and pb&j) with a side it will cost you approx. $7.50 ( drink also purchased separately). The menu does change from season to season, so if you have a favorite it's not guaranteed to always be there.

Overall this is a nice place to eat, the food is different than your average fast food place, it's close to local business's and the staff and environment are friendly and inviting.
