This is nice place for breakfast and casual lunch / dinner. Menu is limited. They have a gift shop in the restaurant. You can buy Port Austin shirts, souvenir etc. Overall small place with good service.
Nice place-has a nice gift shop, sells lotto tix, some toys/water stuff and has a counter and a few chairs for their diner. Only thing negative is the prices are pretty high, for the gift shop and the food. I guess like everyone, covid is a factor, (or excuse??) but still....compared to some of the other places here and in Caseville, it was a little high priced. Deli meat is fresh sliced and was good though. Clean and friendly.
Simple breakfast menu. Only option is Egg sandwich with choice of meat on muffin , bagel or toast. Tasted great. Considering no other restaurant in Port Austin open for breakfast during the week, it was much appreciated. We would of had to travel 15 - 20 miles for next place that would of had dine in breakfast.
4 stars for the diner ONLY. I saw tuna melt on the menu and didn't look any further for lunch. The sandwich tasted great and I enjoyed sitting at the counter and chatting with an old friend. The gift store I wouldn't have bothered to review/rate at all. I was in the area and able to meet with a good friend I hadn't seen for years for only a few hours. I thought we could catch up while I shopped for a birthday gift for my son. At one point while browsing the gift store, we got caught up in a serious conversation and, although we were being careful not to block the aisles (the store was pretty much empty) and I don't think we were giving off any shoplifting vibes at all (no large bags, not standing close to merchandise), the owner tried to politely shoo us along after a few minutes. I didn't go to the diner so much for the food but for the opportunity to chat with an old friend. I was happy to have a good sandwich while I did that. I didn't go to the gift store so much knowing it would have something I wanted but on the chance it would have something I wanted and I could chat while I looked. After reading other reviews of this place (at a variety of sites), I guess the slight vibe I got to shop or move on was consistent with a few other peoples' experiences.
Friendly staff, stopped for lunch at cafe . They have tables but also an old fashioned soda fountain style counter with swivel bar stools. Excellent sandwich selection . We had the turkey and cheese panini lunch special. Tastes great and price was reasonable. Cafe has a gift shop attached to it. Some things in gift shop were pricey ( however they were also unique ). Touristy sweatshirts were good quality for the price.
This place has AMAZING food ! The breakfast sandwich is to die for!!!! Love love love their SUBS!! My favorite one is the Italian !! It was even baked in the oven , Absolutely delicious!!!! Their homemade Italian dressing was also AMAZING , sweet with a little tang ! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS HIDDEN LITTLE GEM!!
Wow! Can't believe the reviews. The owner has always been very professional with myself and my two granddaughters. We have purchased many cute sweatshirts and things for our cottage. We have eaten there several times and always been treated well. Service is a little slow because there is just the one man making all the orders but you can't be in a hurry in a vacation town.
Found some nice gifts for the grandkids here. Great ice cream. For those complaining about price you're not at Walmart! You're in a tiny tourist town. Same type of people that complain about beer prices at a concert. My wife and I love this little store - sandwich shop - ice cream parlor - Gift shop. Highly recommend.
Small place with great food! Cheeseburgers are hand formed patties with great flavor! The fries were delicious and the deep fried mac & cheese is life changing! They also have a cappuccino smoothie that was pretty good!
Very unprofessional. I've had a professionaly trained mobility service dog for 3 years and never encountered someone to be so rude. The older gentleman who was either owner or manager refused to allow us in even after I tried to explain he was my service dog not a emotional support animal but a trained service dog and he just kept saying no dog's. Very sad that people still treat the disabled this way
