Really good bakery chain in Mid to Northern Michigan.

We've been seeing their signs on I75 & US10 for years. We finally decided to stop and see what they were about. We chose the Bay City location.

The staff on site were incredibly nice and helpful. The atmosphere and charm is high at this shop. We like the merchandise and all the knick knacks they have for sale as well but real stars of the show are bakery items.

They have bear claws, paczkis, cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, and of course doughnuts, as well as a whole bunch of other confections.

They are very heavily advertised in Michigan so we did go in with high expections and they were mostly met. We had a strawberry filled paczki and a cherry blossom. They were both well baked and tasty, but not superb. Much better than typical store bought doughnuts but not the best we have ever had but the price was incredibly reasonable, especially given the size of them

Recommended if you're hankering for a good doughnut and you're in the area.

Great donuts and great little place! First time going to Cops and Donuts. The bacon one was pretty amazing, and my kids loved them! Very clean and very friendly staff. Will definitely visit again.

Much better than they were about a year ago. Donuts are now soft and fresh no matter what day you go. Have a great taste now too. Higher priced than most donut shops but the size of some of theirs don't compare. The apple and cherry fritters are huge!

If I could give zero stars for how this company handles customer care, I would. Honestly, I’ve never had an issue before today. Our family has loved Cops. This evening, though, I called and spoke with Alexia who was unwilling to do anything for me, as three of the five donuts I purchased were hard as rocks. They had to have been SEVERAL days old. I’ve gotten raw cinnamon rolls from this place before, and they’ve always been so considerate and concerned when that happens (yes, we still went back bc of the fact that whoever was on duty stood behind the product and obviously was embarrassed that they had sold us raw donuts). Conversely, this evening’s phone call (5:40pm Thursday, March 9, 2023) might’ve been one of THE most unpleasant exchanges I’ve ever had with anyone. I was kind, honest, and explained the situation in great detail. Instead of a rational, caring response, I got nothing but silence on the other end of the line. When I asked if we were to just, “eat our hard donuts”, she responded with, “Okay” (which honestly didn’t even make sense given my question). I then asked her name (ALEXIA) and got off the phone with her. I will no longer be visiting Cops, spread the word about their hard donuts and unkind customer care, and save my business for Barney’s instead.

I drove all the way from Grove City Ohio to have a doughnut here. They didn't let me down.

They were not as good as they had been in the past. The donuts tasted different this time. They tasted more like regular donuts instead of the donuts that we had had at other times when we came up to Bay City. Not worth it this time.

Great location, love the donuts. Got a huge strawberry flower petal, delicious. Our whole group was served very fast. I was here last year on packzi day, they got hit hard lol. Huge packzis, delicious, everyone knows where to go for the best donuts.

I went in there, and there were two people at the counter. 15 minutes later, they asked (pointing out the specialty donuts) "what are these?" She proceeded to slowly explain each donut IN THE WHOLE CASE.
Can you imagine if there were customers ahead if me? I would have been in there for OVER an hour.
I have been there before, and have seen one gal take care of 6 customers in 15 minutes. This one acts like no one else was waiting. After 20 minutes with no end in sight, I left. Geeze...I only wanted a couple donuts, and knew what I wanted.
Guess it's time to find a new source for donuts. :)

Doughnut shop opened by Cops. Part of a small chain. For merit Southerlands bakery, open 24 hours.
Baker's dozen of doughnuts about $14.00 is a bit pricey, but doughnuts are large, and baked fresh all day long..
House blend of coffee is also available. Small gift shop and.small soda case. Pastry case is always filled fresh, and a must try.
Employees are always friendly and able to assist the undecided. They will also go into the back to check on items not in case
Great little doughnut shop.
