Waved Hi to Simon. Then got an ice coffee and lemon ginger scone. Too hot out for espresso. Their brews are consistently spot on and drinkable to my taste. I think some places brew too hot so the coffee gets bitter. Or the grinder does not get cleaned so the coffee tastes stale and there's beans sticking in the grinder feed. Never here.

Simon's has amazing coffee, pretty good food, and a neat atmosphere. The staff are friendly, including the eponymous Simon who works there frequently. Not ideal for staying and getting work done as seating can fill up and there is no free WiFi but a great place to pick up a coffee and a quick bite.

I really wanted to like Simon's... However, I was disappointed with the coffee quality and taste. Also, it was definitely on the expensive side (even for a ~trendy~ local coffee shop) and their "large" size was comically small.
That said, service was friendly and the location was cute and convenient.
All in all I would probably not return with so many other options to explore in Porter.

cute location, surprising amount of seating & really convenient for a hot drink by yourself. few outlets and worst: no free wifi. I should have done my research, but unfortunately arrived five minutes late for a(n online) work meeting, so I forked over the cash. but I was bummed.
the rooibos vanilla tea was good though :) I may return with a friend, expecting to talk, not get things done!

If you're looking for a coffee shop near Harvard other than Starbucks--this is your place.
It's particularly cozy--with a few tables lined up against the wall opposite of the counter. I tried their matcha latte which was solid--it would have been nice if there was some latte art included.
It did take a while for my order to arrive--approximately 5 minutes though there were a couple of people ahead of me. Price was typical of a normal coffee shop--ranging from 2-5 dollars depending on the drink and size you order.

One of the best coffee shops in the Boston area, and possibly the best in the Porter/Harvard area. Consistently excellent lattes. They use beans from Barismo, who are an excellent local roaster. Their pastries and other assorted goodies are also quite good.

Coffee is good. Place is nice. Once I asked for an everything bagel w/cream cheese, owner gave me an everything toast [messed up the order, he said]..I took it sat down and saw green creeping on the edges of the toast. Didn't know what to think about that. Today I went in with a blank slate - 3/4's through my egg sandwich I found a long brown hair. I brought it back in and showed them..owner said 'Thanks' with a smile. ..So, that's it for me ..2 strikes.

This place was my introduction to high quality espresso. It motivated me to buy my own espresso machine, coffee grinder and roaster. To this day, it is still my favorite coffee shop in the Boston/Cambridge area. I haven't been to a Starbucks or Peets ever since, unless I have no other choice (e.g., at the airport).

Simon’s is my favorite local coffee shop. It’s quick, easy, and always there. Good hours, nice people, great locals, easy parking, just exactly what you need every once in a while. Highly recommended.

They leave the store door open and so the it gets pretty cold inside, to the point that’s it becomes no fun to sit down and enjoy your cup of coffee. And the coffee is just ok, nothing special.
