I love the walk up window! Best coffee in the downtown area, I’ve never had a bad cup of any kind. Love bringing friends here too.

Best coffee in Bethesda Row in my opinion. So nice to lounge here for some minutes in the early morning. Their own coffee feels fresh and tastes bold. I like its flavor: solid, intense, has depth, but is also smooth. Here they serve myriad concoctions with excellence, in a welcoming ambiance.

Excellent coffee, relaxed atmosphere and great service. I've never had a bad experience here and recommend it to anyone in the Bethesda area. Good for a quick cup of coffee, or spending a couple hours just chatting with friends

Overall, the coffee is great and most of the team members there are really sweet and welcoming...But recently there's been one older gentleman there (I think his name is Andy?) that has been giving me the creeps. The way he stares at me is off-putting and I'm 99% sure that he's flirting with me and it's just...uncomfortable.
I generally don't give bad reviews but it gets so uncomfortable sometimes that there's days I refuse to come in.

This review is only about the quality of the product being sold here- service was fine and the coffee shop itself was clean and well maintained. Do not come here if you are a “coffee snob” in the slightest. I purchased a pound of their “lightest, fruitiest roast” and after brewing it in my French press, I threw my cup of coffee out. If their “light” roast is this bitter and burnt tasting, I’d hate to try any of their other roasts. Also tried the free cup of whatever was house brewed that day and we threw that out too. You’re better off shopping for a quality, non bitter roast at whole foods.

They open at 6am, I was the 3rd person in line at 603, and 3 ppl in line behind me. My 1st time there. Everyone knew each other in line by NAME and they all wanted their "usual". The barista knew them all by name, TOO!!
I even said out loud......everyone seems to know each other. I feel left out!
THAT should tell you its a good place for coffee!! And it did not disappoint.
The pastries were wonderful, too!!!

My favorite coffee spot in Bethesda. Located in the busy downtown, it's currently only doing curbside service, but there are plenty of benches nearby. Highly recommend the nitro cold brew and literally any of the baked goods.

Amazing, locally-roasted coffee! It's great to have this option in town as an alternative to Starbucks or Peet's. They've tried branching out into breakfast with some smoothies, but I haven't tried those yet. Ask for the half/half lemonade and tea. Very good.

Quartermaine seems to be one of maybe just 3 coffee shops in Bethesda, and it shows. The atmosphere is very charming, and they are not afraid to make their coffee stronger than Starbucks or Peet's would. They also have some nice drinks like London Fog, which I don't recall seeing at many other cafes.
However, I have had difficulty with their points system, which seems to be inconsistent at best. Even then, I think the prices are very reasonable nonetheless.

I have to agree with the one commenter, the coffee is good, the pastries are ok, but the staff seems off. They are nice and fulfill the order and the wifi works well, but sometimes I could do with not having to listen to their conversations. The store isn't laid out really well either. There is always confusion by customers about which counter to go to for drinks vs. beans.
