Gather

My husband and I just had late dinner at this place it took 45 minutes to serve our dinner. We ordered Reuben sandwich which was so disgusting. There was a small slice of burned pastrami inside the sandwich. What happened to Gather? We have eaten here before and the food was good then. We will not eat here again.

Hands down, one of my favorite restaurants in the greater Portland area. Amazing cocktails. Delicious food. I have never been disappointed coming to Gather.

Best place to eat out for a fancy dinner with the whole family. We sat next to the kids area and they happily played while we had amazing drinks. The food came amd they had real kid food instead of the usual hotdogs and Mac and cheese solutions. They fulfilled every special request and we had the most enjoyable meal we've had since that baby was born.

The food was fresh, creative and very good. However, we are skinny 65 year olds that never eat our whole entrees in restaurants yet we were definitely still hungry after eating our whole entrees. Portions need to be larger or include a starch like potato, rice or noodle to fill out the diner.

A really nice brunch for six. Wait staff was excellent! Food was excellent!, ambiance was excellent! We'll be back for more. A really nice place to linger and talk.

We've been to Gather many times and it's always a great experience. My wife won a contest for us to have a three-course meal on the house. This occurred during a power outage. The event was canceled, but we already had a baby sitter lined up. Gather was gracious enough to treat us anyways. Their appetizers are great, but their mains are always mind blowing. Their oxtail pozole is out of this world.

Good food all around but very poor service. If it is busy at all, you will wait very long for service...and we consistently get a waitress that doesn't even apologize for drinks taking 30 min. and dinner taking over an hour to prepare. Friends have had the same experiences.

I need to disagree with the other reviewers. We just had brunch there this morning and it was very disappointing, both in terms of food quality and service. My partner ordered the Maine Crabmeat Benedict. It came out tepid and really the crabmeat description was a joke . . . two tiny pieces of crabmeat graced the top. The "homemade" English muffins were a little larger than a silver dollar. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with a side of home fries. If the taste was exceptional then they could be forgiven, but it was not. It was ordinary. The home fries arrived with a promise that the sandwich would follow. It never did. No one ever offered us a second cup of coffee. My partner had finished his meal, so we decided to leave. Our server asked how everything was and we told him the sandwich never arrived. To make amends they took the sandwich off the bill and packaged one to go. When we got home even that was disappointing. Whoever heard of breakfast sandwich made with only one slice of bread? And again it was ordinary.

Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t order any. Went at 6:30 on a Tuesday. There were several open tables. We were seated immediately, but no one ever came by after that. There was another couple across from us who had been sitting there since before we got there and they clearly had been waiting for a while too. After about 15 minutes we just got up and left. No one even seemed to notice.

why oh why must this place be so far away from me? The food is prepared in such amazing, attractive ways. Local entertainment provides music on a regular basis. All the food is local; how could anyone hate this place except for your accountaint?
