Overwhelmed! Nice shop. Tons of cooking/baking items. Pretty much anything a cook could need. So many things, though, that it's pretty narrow and very visually busy. I was not looking for anything particular, so ended out wandering aimlessly. Went downstairs for coffee and a cookie before we left. They also offer light lunch items and have a little wine and deli area. Baked goods were very good. Coffee was very strong. (I like a milder blend, so went for the medium--rather than the bold or dark roast--but still found it VERY strong.) Great if you like strong coffee. Nice little picnic tables near the river, so a sweet place to have your coffee and sweet treat.
Great shop! Lower level has more food items and upper level is jam packed with all sorts of cooking and baking and culinary related items. Well organized but you could spend a good deal of time looking at it all. Loved the oatmeal and cranberry cookies! Now that I am home, I am craving them! Parking is just left of the building and drops to another lot below and behind that. It can be easy to miss the entrance as it is near a traffic light and crossing over can be dangerous given the slight curve in the road and oncoming traffic may be difficult to see. Parking can also be tricky if it is a busy day and manueving with incoming and outgoing traffic in the small upper level parking.
Stopped by for my first visit while returning home south from Bar Harbor. What a wonderful place, wish there was one in Virginia. I will return for another visit anytime that I am in the area. Excellent products and selection. Nice selection of wine and gourmet items. I highly recommend. The folks there were both helpful and friendly.
Fabulous!!!!!! This is a store that one typically finds in a large sophisticated city! How great to have it here! Wide interesting selections from gourmet treats to unique kitchen gadgets....don't miss freshly made french baguettes and sandwiches, exotic cheeses, imported items....even duck!!! I love this place!!!
I think you have a lovely store, but I think it is ludicrous that you do not take cash or a check because these have to be handled. Yet you take the merchandise from the person to get the price, then further handle it by putting it in the bag and then handing the person the receipt. I saw a woman sneeze, she pulled her mask down, sneezed again all over a cookbook that she was going to purchase then go up to the register and hand it over to your staff to ring in and then they put it in a bag and handed her a receipt. You have lost a customer in me as I had cash and checks with me, I had left my debit card in my other jacket pocket, and I was prepared to buy a new skillet and linens for my table and some spring items. Seriously? Your behavior is what is wrong - and that older woman behind the register acted like everyone had the plague so not only was it a waste of people’s time going in there, Yor staff were condescending as well. Good luck! I will be telling all my friends not to shop with you. It’s a shame but you aren’t thinking at all of your customers.
Good gawds...I don't even cook and I can rarely walk out of here thinking that I shouldn't come back with a truck and a bigger budget. Downstairs is filled with fine foods, upstairs is filled with any and every decent kitchen gadget you might need for cooking everything from ants to zebras! No exotic animal meats are available here, just the means to prepare them...
My go to for thoughtfully sourced delicacies from around the world...great wine and tea selection, local meats, fantastic selection of cheeses and fresh baguettes. The 3rd floor has great sales on their good quality kitchen ware too.
Always a pleasure to visit this store. A chef's dream store. The cappuccino was the best I ever had. The people who work there are so sweet and amazing. A must stop shop on our annual pilgrimage to Maine.
Always smells like fresh coffee. So many options for coffee, meats, cheeses. The brioches are warm, sweet, and flaky. Always a nice visit to grab some coffee. The people are amazing and actually talk to you. Upstairs has a lot of cooking utensils and other cool things.
