Absolutely the best, freshest baked goods and lunches. Even if you're not gluten free, you will still lose your mind at the deliciousness! Everything, YES, everything is GF, right down to an excellent beer and cider selection! So much flavor in every bite I've ever had there.. Freaking great staff as well, friendly, knowledgeable, and fun! I'm hooked!

This place was delicious and 100% safe for my celiac disease. I have never felt so comfortable in a place but when I walked in, I felt so comfortable and how I can eat my Favorite types of cookies and a breakfast burrito. Great service!! I love how it’s Gluten Free. Also great customer service. The owner and family were amazing.

My family and I stopped by here when visiting last week. My FIL is gluten free and I love cider so we thought this would be a fun place for a quick stop. Boy am I glad we stopped in! The owners and staff are wonderful! Candice was super knowledgeable and straightforward about all the ciders and beers and was able to find all 5 adults in our group 1 (or 2) drinks that we really liked. My FIL was able to have a beer for the 1st time in a decade! Other members of my family were visiting with us from Columbia and the staff was so patient while we were relaying info to them in Spanish.

The baked goods were also delicious and priced very reasonably. I would highly suggest this place whether you are going GF or not, you will not miss the Gluten one bit! I will definitely be coming back the next time I am in Damariscotta!

Thank you for a delicious and memorable experience!

A safe place to eat for people with Celiac.

Dedicated gluten-free, they fiercely protect the environment so people who need gluten-free (really gluten-free) options can feel safe eating here.

We've had the pizza, beef stew, sandwiches, the pies (as in chicken pot and seafood), the cookies, the macaroons, the cake ... all delicious!

We're about 2 hours away and the drive is totally worth it!

If you're looking for gluten-free options in the area, you'll find nothing better and nothing safer than ButterUpCakes!

I got the Tuna sandwich and the strawberry shake. Both were amazing. The sandwich was delicious and the homemade bread the texture and taste were on point. The strawberry shake was a bonus! I highly recommend it. The cafe was comfortable and very well decorated. The staff is very friendly and attentive. This is a great little cafe

Extremely rude, very poor customer service. Chose not buy from them because of how they handled a situation.

They do not allow outside food or drink because they are a dedicated gluten free facility and they could lose their certification if anything were to happen, which is understandable and appreciated. They do have signs to not bring anything in, although the reasoning is not explained so one would assume it was because they didn’t want you to eat someone else’s food in their store, again understandable. Someone was in front of me while entering, so I didn’t see the signs, but the way they yelled (literally) at me and my companions was ridiculous and could have been handled much better than it was. Spoken to like misbehaving dogs. Will personally not try to go here again

EXTREMELY RUDE owner & employees that need to learn appropriate customer service skills & behaviors!!!!!

As someone that suffers with celiac disease, (and a visitor from the nearby town of Warren) I was so excited to try this place out! A dedicated gluten-free bakery is a gem to find.

I walked in with a group of gregarious friends, and, as I was not the one to open the door myself, missed signs on the door mentioning to not bring in outside food. Unfortunately, my friends & I had take out food from another establishment (wrapped in to go containers AND bagged) , as we were being patrons to the local businesses in Damariscotta while there for the day.

OH. MY. GAWD. We were LITERALLY YELLED at by the OWNER for being there with PACKAGED food not bought from this establishment.

Absolutely unacceptable behavior from any employee of any company, let alone an OWNER!

Oh, just wait for the "reply from owner" about this - the claim being they are concerned only for making for a safe place for those suffering celiac disease to eat GF food and maintain their certification. (See every nasty, passive-aggressive reply to any low-starred review).

GUESS WHAT??? I have owned Certified Gluten Free food businesses and to be "certified gluten free", one must have 20parts per million or less of gluten in the air - WHICH MEANS .... food IN PACKAGES AND BAGGED will NOT cross-contaminate the gluten free environment of a place like ButterUpCakes Cafe!!

Bottom line, if you vote with your $ and value kind customer service, I would not recommend supporting this establishment.

This place is amazing! My partner has celiac and there are very few places where we can enjoy meals together, so suffice it to say we came here a lot during our trip! Candice does an amazing job offering delicious, down to earth, gluten free food and pastries. I love that her kids work and help out there too. Really cool spot in Damariscotta and again, amazing food and baked goods to be found here! Plus the only breakfast in town!

The breakfast bowls and sandwiches are very yummy! Highly recommend this place. My only minor feedback would be to grill the outside of the burritos for the extra yumminess. The cakes are UNREAL! The veggie lunch sandwich is great and I would LOVE a breakfast veggie sandwich added to the menu (there is an amazing one at Heidi's in auburn and I always think it would be amazing to combine the ingredients of this awesome gluten free place with the toppings of the veggie breakfast sandwich there). This place is great, it even tastes better than "gluten filled" food!

The food and service here are fabulous and their homemade green chili salsa is the best I've ever had (and I'm from the southwest)! Today, I had their 'Wake 'N Shine' and it was the perfect amount of flavor and the jalapeño added the right amount of heat. They are not a coffee shop, so don't expect to get any cappuccinos or lattes, but their regular coffee was very good! I'll definitely be back to check out more of the menu options!
