Coffee Rani

Place is unbelievably fantastic. I went here for lunch during a shopping trip and got a side of grits, iced coffee, and a red velvet cake brownie. The portion for my side of grits was fairly large, coffee was excellent, and the brownie was everything you’d want a red velvet cake dessert to be. I liked it so much that I went back the next day and got the avocado ciabatta toast I’d been eyeing on the specials menu the previous day, along with a mug of hot coffee. The avocado toast was AMAZING. Lots and lots of veggies, a yummy spread, and a fried egg on a slab of ciabatta. I went back to the counter after finishing my meal and got a slice of pistachio cake for dessert. Thumbs up all around. There is so much more I’m looking forward to trying from Coffee Rani; the variety on the menu is really impressive. Lots of vegetarian and keto options to be found - and the vegetarian options could easily be turned vegan if need be. I can’t wait to bring friends and family here when they come to Mandeville for a visit!

The food is good but the staff have an impervious attitude. The cashier took my payment on my takeout order and then answered the phone to take another order instead of asking them to hold for a moment so she could give me my order. It was right next to her on the counter. Finally another employee asked me if I had been helped and gave me my order. This is not the first time I have seen this type of behavior there.

I love this place. Great food, great environment, great employees. My favorite local spot.

I was in town after Christmas visiting a friend who suggested we order something for dinner. I chose a salad called the Soprano. Excellent!!

I was really looking forward to Cafe Rani since it has a stellar reputation. The service was friendly and prompt, and I really liked the airy, warehouse ambience. I got the chicken quesadillas and I found them to be kind of bland, without enough cheese. There was a flavorful peach (I think) dipping sauce. Personally, however, I would not have been paired this sauce with this quesadilla. I certainly appreciate the creativity though, and I was NOT expecting them to come with a pound of cheese and ranch dressing, just to be clear. I would like to go back to Cafe Rani and try a salad.

I like this place for lunch. There is an upbeat vibe about the place. There are a lot of salads plus the usual lunch fare. They have great ice tea of all descriptions (mango green, etc.). Some great sandwiches, too. Ham and brie sandwich is very good.

Went to have lunch here today at 11:30. Looked like 2019, no pandemic. Tables close together, no distancing in line, people walking all over with no masks. I decided to go back to New Orleans where we recognize that Covid is real.

To start off, I ordered over the phone and when I got there I stood in front of the sign that said "TOGO pickup" for about 10 minutes before someone helped me even though there were two employees at each register doing nothing. My order was 2 pieces of chocolate cake and one piece of wedding cake. The part I hated most was the portion for the price. the wedding cake costed more than the chocolate cake yet the piece of wedding cake was half the size of the pieces of chocolate cake. It was the most under portioned, overpriced slice of cake you could ever hope for (not).

Few months ago, a friend of mine brought me here ( right next to K mart in mandeville) and we had a great lunch, also got military discount on my meal. I kept going back to this restaurant and told my military friends about their military discount and all. But they changed their mind left and right saying if you are not in uniform, we are not going to give you the military discount even though we show them our government ID. So one day they feel like thanking the military and the other day they don't? Just remove the whole thing saying " we do not do military discount." Instead.

Omgoodness if you haven't been here you need to fix that as soon as possible! Sooooooo good! The portions are generous and the food is delicious. Not at all what you would expect from a little strip mall counter-order cafe. The service is fantastic as well especially for a counter-order.
