The legend of the Christmas Club! The Cottage Cafe in downtown Middletown is a bit hard to explain. It's an odd old house, still broken up like a maze by small rooms, whose primary residents are flamingos. In business for 27 years, you can feel the stories pouring from the walls...and in some cases see them. So given the unique nature of this spot, I decided to venture outside of my comfort zone. Enter..the Christmas Club..piled high on three wheat slices is homemade benedictine, sliced cucumbers, red onion, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce and their roasted red pepper spread for good measure! It was definitely more than a mouthful and a surprisingly pleasant treat. I added potato salad which was candidly pretty bland but who can complain when we're talking $7.50 with chips, a hardboiled egg and a pickle? Give them a try if you're in the area. I have been a customer at this restaurant for many years. I have used their catering services on lots of occasions for both personal and business functions. My husband and I go there for lunch frequently and we have NEVER been disappointed. Everything on the menu is simply delicious.

First visit there, got the cafe club and a piece of ebony and Ivory cake. They both were absolutely delicious, I will definitely be back!
