J&S Coffee

This charming neighborhood coffee shop has been my favorite for years. They serve a wide variety of coffee drinks from high calorie to expresso-based to basic roast. The space itself is warm and welcoming. One of their best features are the huge bookshelves stacked with books in a variety of genres. It's a "take one/leave one" set-up, and I've found some great reads! In a world where chain establishments reign, this locally owned establishment is a real gem.

Best coffee & tea shop in Lawrence

The owner is super nice and knowledgeable, and all the baristas are so personable. There really seems to be a sense of community at the shop. I love going there to work and/or study! They have the best matcha and loose leaf tea I've ever had--I lived in Japan for several months and the quality is comparable to being back there.

This is my first time coming in here. The owner (I think his name is Steve) is such a nice and bubbly guy! His employees are also very nice. The owner took the time to ask me what I’d like and gave me suggestions. I also asked him about the coffee blends they were selling, and he took the time to walk me to the cabinet and explained all the coffees they were selling (also explaining the different flavor notes!) I’ll be definitely coming back—keep up this great customer service 😃

I love coming here to work on writing projects; the place has a relaxed vibe and the owner goes out of his way to make people feel welcome! Their cappuccinos and flat whites are consistently well-made. Cleanliness is a bonus - no sticky coffee rings on the tables or trash on the floor.

J&S is the ultimate place to go for a long afternoon of studying. The folks behind the counter always have a smile for you and awesome drink suggestions. This is not your cookie cutter coffee shop experience. The drink combos are unique and good and they serve their hot tea in adorable tea pots. If you're desperate for a good study hide-out, this is the place to go.
