This unique store is awesome! Although I'm not an avid fisher (I tend to catch trees), I have found some really nice items. Love the wool blankets especially! I'm also a fan of the coffee shop. My dad loves to fly fish and after I brought him into the store, he would not stop talking about how great it is. Needless to say, it was very easy to find his Christmas gifts. I (and my dad) will be repeat customers.

This place brings such a unique business concept to Lawrence, a cafe + fly fishing shop! Who would have thought? I know some of these recent reviews address the staff not being able to take tips. If you look at the updated menu/their retail collection you'll note that prices have changed to reflect management being able to provide a livable wage to their employees. Just a friendly FYI :)

Love this place- I’m here every Friday to get coffee and tie flys. The GM there is great and is super energetic. It’s nice to have a place like this in Lawrence!

As a fly fisherman it is great to have a place locally to pick up some essentials, tying materials, and specialty flies. The staff is always very friendly and ask what else I would like to see them carry from a fishing perspective.
Also, my wife LOVES their coffee! It’s a win win!

I love coming into this shop for a midweek pick me up. The coffee is great, the staff is friendly and service is quick.

Unfortunately there's no option to provide a cash or card tip after a purchase. Hoping to see a tip jar next time I come in!

I went with a friend for a cup of coffee and had a pleasant experience! The place is very new and I’m excited to see what they add! Inside is a coffee shop and outdoors shop that seems to be mostly focused on fishing. There’s a small seating area for those ordering coffee. You can substitute milk for vegan/dairy free options for no additional cost!

Management is bad, coffee drinks are bad. You can tell that the baristas weren’t trained / don’t really know what’s up. Which would be fine if the drinks weren’t so expensive (along with the fishing gear). Honestly, as a former Lawrence resident who feels very strongly about keeping Mass Street friendly and vibrant, this place ain’t it.

I've been here a couple times and really enjoyed their coffee and atmosphere!

This company tipping policy which continues to be cited in lieu of engaging with criticism leaves me scratching my head. 1) “Believing in a full fair wage” is not a reason, nor part of a reason, to not allow tips. 2) As someone who has spent over a decade in the service industry, I can almost guarantee that no worker would object to some positions receiving more tips than others; rarely have I encountered a situation when the necessity of that being the case was not accepted (or even embraced) by myself and my coworkers. Furthermore, even in workplaces that are the exception to this rule, frontline workers are perfectly capable of equitably redistributing tips amongst ourselves as we are often intelligent, highly-capable individuals.

The employees were the good part of coming here. Then the owners fire employees for organizing for their rights, took tips away, fired staff unwilling to perform tasks outside of their role, and then increased prices. Their actions don't align with their advertised ethos.
