Just a photo of my coffee cup edge! Why? Because hubby and I already demolished our breakfast food and drank our coffees. I do t put syrups in mine, but I love that they make their own syrups. Also, the food is fresh, beautiful, great ingredients and yummy. The staff is super friendly. We sat outside. What a lovely way to start our day.

We pop in occasionally and every time the staff is very nice and helpful they even serve donutland donuts here! It’s nice having this on this side of town! Great coffee and donuts 5/5 for uptown coffee!

Overview - We started visiting Uptown Coffee Company almost a year ago. When it comes to excellent Espresso, consistency, food options for most anyone, and exemplary smiling staff, this is our go-to location! Out of Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, and Iowa City (we lucked out living only 5 minutes away). We usually visit at least five times a week. Need I say more? Don’t worry, I will ;) More detail below!

Espresso Rating

I love the darker roasted beans for My espresso, and Uptown does not disappoint! It’s consistent, and I can always depend on the same drink quality. My go-to is a Vanilla Latte with Oatmilk. Depending on how rough of a day it has been, I’ll add another shot, and all is made right. Some would say I have A obsessive coffee disorder.

If you would like to have a fruitier/lighter roasted Espresso experience, they also offer that! Pretty cool, right!

Staff Experience

Okay. Like how do you get such amazing people!? It shows that Uptown Owners Lexi and Rex have fantastic skills for selecting extraordinary employees. Each one of them (Seth, Auri, Vivian, Jori, Katy, Sophie, sorry if I misspelled any of those!) greet my family with smiles and know our drinks by memory.

Location feel and atmosphere

I absolutely love the feel of this location. You have a beautiful quaint coffee shop in the front. From amazing crown molding and rustic floors to unique art in the back area (you can walk through the double doors where the deer head is and enjoy your coffee or food in the pub area, Uptown Snug, they will even bring you your drink or food) which just gives so much more space and includes games our kids love to play! Especially Skip-Bo.

We also love your online ordering system for when we are in a rush :)!

Food

I love that they support other small local businesses with great food choices like bread from Great Harvest, honey, or even those sought-after donutland doughnuts. It’s pretty unusual to find a Coffee location that balances individual/family experience so well.

If I were to recommend one of my favorite breakfast items, the bacon panini with veggies would be one of my go-to items. I was also recently introduced to the “Dirty Elvis,” Check it out for lunch sometime, I won’t ruin the surprise, but it’s worth it ;)!

To sum this up, it’s the best coffee experience I have had at a coffee location in my entire life. I have been blessed to travel all over the Unites States, as well as other countries, and I am blown away daily by the consistent experience that I know I will get. A cup of joy to start my day out that never disappoints.

Visited for the first time yesterday to work on a project. Great coffee! Atmosphere was great. Glad to see they were busy! Going back today to continue my project. I will defiantly put them at the top of my list to meet friends and clients. Lots of space unlike other coffee shops in the area.

Ordered 2 coffees but unfortunately they got the order wrong. The coffee was very delicious, brewed perfectly but luke warm.
Hopefully we'll have a better experience next time.

The atmosphere was very cool but the food was terrible. I ordered veggies with ham and added a wrap 🌯 for an extra fee, only to find out they just wrapped it in a tortilla and burned the bottom in a panini press. I will probably get coffee here again but won't eat here again.

The atmosphere is 10/10 amazing! The staff was super helpful and were quick. I got the chai tea latte and it was perfect. Can’t wait to come back!

Feels like a cozy-tight-don’t bring a big group to stay place. There’s a bar to the back attached to the coffee shop. Unless they allow you to sit in their space there’s not a lot of chairs to sit down inside. It’s cold so maybe they do patio during spring/summer.

Things that stick out to me, coffee wise, in their menu is that they offer NITRO cold brew. Did not try it. And cortado. Which is what I got. The cortado was very good! No latte art but it could be that maybe they don’t do that for her to go orders?

Four Arrow’s Coffee is the roaster they use. I don’t know anything about them. You are looking for UPTOWN SNUG sign in gold for the coffee shop. This place was a bit of trouble to find as a first timer.

As someone who frequents coffee shops in the area, this is easily my favorite. The light roast coffee is the best tasting in town and the breakfast burrito is amazing. Uptown is better than Dash and Brewhemia without a doubt.

I am giving 3 stars, only because of a few minor things;

1.) I only picked up the beverages, I never made a complaint on MY behalf, I didn't make any calls nor complain about the celery situation, yes the order was under my name, because I was picking it up, but calling me out, specifically on someone else's review, is unprofessional. (I have never wrote a review for your business until now)

2.) I did not 'throw' the drink on the floor, anybody that works or has worked in a coffeeshop should know not to cut their cup carriers in half, because it makes them less stable. I simply turned around, the cup carrier bent in half, and one of the drinks fell on the floor. Not only did I apologize three separate times, I thanked the baristas three times for remaking my drink for me.

3.) I was given wonderful tasting food, as only one food item and one drink was for me, so I had to give credit where credit is due.

***I do not however, appreciate being not allowed at your business, when I wasn't the one who said those things in the first place. So I definitely suggest better business ethic in those terms.
