Friendly staff, amazingly delicious drinks, and welcoming atmosphere. I had a work meeting there and it was the perfect spot. We decided to stay for lunch and really enjoyed the wraps from New World Kitchen.

Awesome neighborhood coffee shop with a rotating seasonal menu - the honey lavender lemonade is soooo good and is my go-to on a hot summer day (and any other day, let's be honest). They stock great locally made pastries, glass bottle Coca-Cola (hecho en mexico!), DELICIOUS vegan meals in their cooler for breakfast/lunch/dinner, and PLANTS, they parter with a local baker for cinnamon rolls on the weekends, they have a book club and sell a great selection of titles in the shop as well as hosting a ton of community events, rotating gallery walls to feature local artists, etc. etc. the list goes on! Also tons of tables and outlets and wifi for when you need to work for an afternoon! Love this spot.

Delicious coffee, got an oatmilk latte one time and a dirty chai latte another time and they were both so good. Plus, they’re an awesome space, queer-friendly, peaceful and spacious. I’m charmed. Definitely have found my local coffee spot.

My favorite coffee shop in town. Drinks are great, music is always great, warm and inviting place to knock out some work or catch up with someone. Good selection of food and treats from local vendors, especially if you’re looking for vegan and/or gluten-free desserts.

This was my first visit and I will be back! This is a great place for hanging out and doing homework! The space has a good ambiance and is not over crowded. The owner Drew has a heart for the community and is very personable! Also the coffee was great! I ordered a honey cinnamon oat milk latte and I happy I got a large!!

Best Oatmilk Chia Tea Latte I think I’ve ever had. The Slow Down has a variety of seating and very calm and inviting atmosphere. Love that they sell plants too.

My husband and I found this place while passing through Des Moines on a road trip. What a find. It’s a cute place with great coffee! And it felt especially local and friendly when we met both the owners and the man who owned it when it was a hardware store, who was coming in to get a coffee. Don’t know if we’ll ever be back but we wanted to give them a shout out as a quality local coffee shop that we hope is wildly successful!

After trying another coffee establishment at breakfast that morning which left us very dissatisfied, we couldn't have been happier with our stop at Slow Down! Great coffee with a good variety of flavors and super friendly staff to chat with while they prepares our drinks.

I love the relaxing environment and beautiful space they have created. Their lattes, coffee, and baked goods are all so good!! They also have an amazing tea selection. And everyone on the staff team is wonderful! So glad we have a neighborhood spot where we can get exceptional coffee!
