Kava DSM is a dreamy cafe!!! So far my top cafe to chill and hang out for date night or a group of friends.
Kava is a hidden gem right now that needs to be talked about more.
I absolutely love the environment and all their goodies.
Service is wonderful too.
Soooo many vegan options and even traditional treats. Gelatos galore!!!
Free samples upon request.
Delicious and nutritious. My family and I are so happy to experience Kava and it’s beautiful scenery. We all have different food intolerances and preferences and Kava meets all that we like and can enjoy!!!
Highly recommend!!!

Iced coffee and chai latte were wonderful, but that white chocolate raspberry gelato was out of this world. Nice patio seating and quiet atmosphere inside. Nice little hidden surprise here is Des Moines!

The cashier was friendly! The smoothie (a top seller berry one) wasn’t sweet though

Unique offerings but a little pricey for serving size. I tried their salad and bloody mary non-alcoholic imitation.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but I am so disappointed. It was 5 minutes before I was even acknowledged when I came to the counter to order. It took a half an hour after that to get the simple drinks I ordered and they barely have any flavor to them at all. Then it took an hour and 15 minutes before I received my smoothie bowl and it came with chunks of fruit not blended into the smoothie and moldy fruit on top. I then called later to let the manager know and she was entirely apathetic and brushed off what I had to say. I have gone here before and had a great experience, but after this I will not be returning.

I've been here a few times hoping to experience that warm chill coffee shop vibe but have only been greeted with half wake employees and oh, one time not even open on time. You guys have a beautiful concept. It's being ruined with the half awake rude employees. On a Saturday morning, 12 ppl deep and 3 ppl moving behind the counter at a snails pace. Disappointing. I want to enjoy the atmosphere but it's almost impossible surrounded by ppl that act like they hate their job.

Excellent trendy rainforest vibes. Very allergy conscious and friendly to different diets. My friend and I ordered a paleo almond flour waffle with vegan gelato on top, and oat milk lattes.
Edit - came back again with my boyfriend and he had a delicious DF & GF salmon lox waffle but it took 25 minutes to come out from the kitchen. My blueberry bliss waffle came out right away and was great.

We had 4 at our table and were served 15min apart and coffee took at least 30 min and we had to ask for it. The food was wonderful and everyone was very friendly. Just each guest had to eat alone.

It's a beautiful, cozy place with unique choices for food. It said it closed at 830 but they had my friend and I leave by 805. I tried the kava colada and it was fine but not worth $12. I missed any coconut flavor to it!

My wife and daughter are still sitting here enjoying their order but was felt lead to leave a review before I proceed with my day. The Lox Waffle Toast changed me. I was a bit skeptical as waffles conjure thoughts of syrup and sweetness and I am more of a savory person. This plate redefined what it is to enjoy a meal. I have never eaten something this delicious for brunch, ever. From the light and wonderful texture of the Paleo waffle to the savory cream cheese and accoutrements with the salmon, was phenomenal. I must now figure a means to afford this dish on a regular basis. Euphoria that can be enjoyed slowly with a fork and knife. Amazing!
