Los Pueblos

Authentic Mexican style restaurant. This is the type of place you’d expect to have mainly bilingual Mexicans working, but wasn’t that way when I went. However, don’t let that concern you, as the cooks know what they are doing. You can see the steam on my fajitas, as my food certainly came out warm. Service was pretty good. Could have use a little more attention to drink refills and such considering how slow they were, but over all, was a pretty good place to eat. I would be willing to try the same meal again, or something different as well.

There are many Mexican meals to order from the menu, with seafood, chicken, beef, and pork. The food, chips and salsa was very tasty, we asked for more chips & salsa when our food arrived and received without a problem! The first time we ate here, I had a steak fajita taco salad with cheese dressing. The meat was not spicy and it was delicious! The next visit, I had a chicken chimichanga with refried beans and rice. I usually do not like refried beans, but Los Pueblos' refried beans tasted great! Servers were friendly and fast. Festive decor with Hispanic music playing, gave it a fun atmosphere for lunchtime in the restaurant. The booths are built for people smaller than 6'1" husky people, but there are tables and chairs to use as well. They serve 4 American dishes - Chicken Strips, Chicken Alfredo, Spaghetti, and I forget the 4th one. They do serve alcohol and Coca-Cola products. We ate at lunchtime both times, when there was plenty of parking. In the summer time, the place is often busy, which is an indicator of great food! I think the prices are reasonable for the food I ordered. Kid-friendly atmosphere during lunch.

Absolutely love this place! It is a must when staying in Okoboji!! Best Mexican food in the whole town! Great service and awesome tortillas!

Thanks to the lovely staff here allowing me to order (out of the closed kitchen), I am no longer going to starve to death. Awesome all around experience. Will most definitely be comimg back!!

I love their chips and salsa. I love the fajitas texicano. I love their fried ice cream. I love their drinks and hard shell tacos.

great fun place very pretty inside great food friendly staff 1 of r fav places 2 eat relax in Arnold's Park esp after a day on the lake/ the beach plus right across from Arnold's Park Amusement Park / the lakefront shops/promenade :)

The only light here was the lady who seated us. Food was okay service was dismal. Ordered a slice of lemon with Coke didn't receive so when ordered meal asked again asked for slices of lemon didn't receive til we asked lady who seated us. When we ordered meal asked no guacamole on any meals 2 of our meals had guacamole on them
Also a note no free refill on chips even when order cheese dip. Probably won't return.

Great Hispanic food. Not busy when we went to an early supper. Delicious margaritas. Seemed like a very small town bar/restaurant BUT food was yummy!

Really nice lunch while traveling. They perfectly accommodated my vegetarian request & the result was excellent. Great salsas & great flavors all around. Nice encounters with the staff as well.

It was ALL perfect!
Every bite was delicious perfection, from the amazingly light & freshly made chips & salsas thru the entire array I received with my "combination dinner" choice.
AND, the servers were the best!
A sign posted at the entry read "Please be aware we are short-staffed and seating and service may take longer than normal."
It was Saturday night, Labor Day Weekend in the beautiful resort paradise of Lake Okoboji Iowa. They were VERY busy, yet service was exemplary & the fare most definitely worth the wait!
P.S. This place was also immaculately maintained & spotless, both inside and out.
