Grindhouse Cafe

Ochaco and I had just finished a lunch of greasy tacos and decided we needed a dessert. The name of the Cafe was appealing so we stopped in. The space is quaint and smells divine of rich coffee beans. The staff was extremely friendly, patient, and willing to offer up suggestions- she got a latte, I ordered a smoothie, and we shared a cookie.
The drinks were refreshing and one of the best aspects of the Cafe is the music! Such a great soundtrack of alternative and punk rock hits. That is not to say that it is distracting. We easily were able to work on our projects and devise our next adventure.

I ordered the Chai, the Nihilist Grindhouse, and the chocolate chip cookie. Great space with tons of natural light coming through. Plenty of seating. Free WiFi. This was my first visit. The menu as written, felt overwhelming so it took me a while to order. The staff were not unpleasant but it would have been nice if someone behind the counter offered to throw out a few ideas or provide recommendations. I was okay with the choices I made but nothing blew me away. It was just okay. But people were in and out the entire time I was there and it was a great place for me to sit for a couple hours. It appears to be a great addition to the community and I’m glad that I stopped in today.

I love getting their breakfast, especially the cookies and scones. The coffee is really good as well! I highly recommend getting breakfast or lunch from there!

First time dining , I would recommend. Nice and cozy atmosphere. They have a water dispenser if needed . Friendly staff.

Grindhouse Cafe is one of the top cafes I've had the pleasure of visiting. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The decor is edgy and modern, with a fun and creative vibe that really sets it apart from other cafes.

This is a great addition to their Griffith location. Whiting is an awesome community and deserves an awesome coffee shop like Grindhouse.

Last week I got some boxed lunches, from some catering company. I didn't realize where they were from until after. Let me tell you, probably two of the best sandwiches, I've had in a long time. I work in the West Loop, Turkey and Chicken Salad were so good. Not sure if it was the apple in the Turkey, the dressing in the Chicken, but they were equally good. I'll be stopping by to try a few more. Pretzel bun, so good.

This was a great discovery. I had business in Whiting and had an hour to kill. This is a great place to hang out and have a great cup of coffee and a some lunch.

A cozy little spot tucked away in the very deeps in Downtown Whiting... A comfortable cafe with very few disturbances and a fantastic environment. The staff is friendly and timely and the drinks (particularly the hot cocoa) is breathtaking. I would love to see this place more populated, however I can appreciate the intimacy from being here alone with my partner. 5/5
