I stayed overnight in Freeport for one of the first times since moving to Beloit and was so excited to get higher grounds before heading to work in the morning. Sadly I was incredibly disappointed. I looked at the menu online while i was in line as it was still dark and the drive thru menu wasn't lit. My entire order was wrong despite confirming at the window. I ordered a Samoa macciato and got a raspberry latte; a cherry almond muffin and got a lemon raspberry, and a raspberry filled scone in which i received s cherry scone which was basically frozen. I didn't notice until I was already on the north side of town heading to work. I understand accidents happen but for an entire order to be incorrect is a shame. If they didn't have the items I ordered they could have told me instead of giving me wrong items. I hate to choose Starbucks over my favorite local stores but this was a very disappointing experience.

Everytime we stop for coffee, I am pleased with the quality and customer service.
My coffee pot broke this week. The first day I ordered Dunkin Doughnuts, I was not happy with the drink I received. It just didn't taste right.
The next day I ordered from Higher Grounds. The exact same coffee I had at Dunkin. I just want to say Higher Grounds taste way better than Dunkin, and the prices are better also.

I'm sad to see the decline of my favorite neighborhood cafe. Not only in the quality of their breakfast but also in their staff. Specifically the blonde girl working at 10am June 21 had a load of attitude and left multiple items off our order even though we repeated it to her three times in a row. I really hope this isn't indicative of the rest of her coworkers but it certainly reflects poorly on them.

Every time I stop at the drive through they are always out of ingredients for the panini I want. Even if there's still an hour or more until closing, they are still always out. I'm not a big coffee drinker, so I was more interested in the sandwiches they had to offer. Needless to say, after a few times of them not having the ingredients, I won't be coming back again. I tried three times and was disappointed.

Great workers ,good atmosphere, and locally owned. The first line of this review is from the last owners. higher grounds has a lot of improvements to make. The cons are horrible hours of operation, Inconsistent pricing (charged an amount for drink just to go back and be charged a different price for same drink), way over priced (the same drink I used to get was 5.54 and now is 7.02). Pros are the employees seem to be vary helpful and friendly. This place has some growing pains to go through with the new owners. For now I will be going elsewhere.

What a warm and friendly place. Great coffee and pastries, too.

My wife and I stopped by Higher Grounds Coffee and were extremely happy we did. First, the service was excellent; second, the food was outstanding; and third, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Freeport has a tremendous asset with this eatery. The young lady that took my order was friendly and attentive and answered all of my questions with a positive energy, the food was quickly prepared and was hot and delicious (I had the Breakfast Burrito & my wife had the panini). We will definitely return.

Very nice establishment! They allowed me to come in and order because my vehicle was too large and I got to use the restroom. Super dope act of kindness. And the lattes were on point!! I got the cinnamon brown sugar white mocha 😋

I am diverting from the standard 4 and 5 star reviews I've read. Evidentially their experiences were different from mine. It does most definitely have that home town customer loyalty. I have to wonder if that is due to lack of real competition. I have been in the store twice and disappointed twice. The cashier seemed agitated that I did not know their menu which could have been handled better by pointing out items of most appeal to their customers. Today I was there with another friend. I got oatmeal and a cup of tea, she got the quiche and a cup of coffee. Both the tea and coffee were plain brands and nothing fancy. The bill was over $20. Outrageous. Had the food been good it would have been nearly worth it. However, my oatmeal had a texture like it had been sitting in a pan all morning then served up even though I was assured it was made to order. My companion's quiche was very flat. It looked more like pizza than quiche. The fruit bowl that came with it was very good though. I would say, go there if you just want coffee or tea. Got to a local restaurant for food. I believe in supporting local businesses. In response to my support I expect quality and fair pricing.
