Great people. Way better than Starbuck personal. You must try my new favorite drink, Matcha Latte. Also, excellent tea selection. And if you like a strong tasty cup of coffee, this beats all the coffee shops out there. Try Major Dickson coffee. Good stuff...

I waited patiently in line for my coffee. When it came for my turn to order, an employee came in off the clock. The barista's face brightened up as he took the off duty employee's order before mine. At this point, I was the only person in line which makes it ridiculous that I was ignored in that way. The coffee is only slightly better than from a corner gas station and the service/hospitality is on the same level. This experience was my fourth consecutive bad experience at this location. The only way I would return is if the Starbucks across the street burned down or something.

Nice and comfy coffee place.
Recently was remodeled and changed look inside, as well as more space and seatings.
Offers brewed and Japanese style coffee.
Has a limited selection of desserts and sandwiches.
There is a WiFi available so you can work on your device.
I would recommend to stop by and check it out.

As a native Californian, I’m always happy to see other CA businesses make their ways to Chicago. A Peet’s cappuccino is the absolute standard for what a good Capp should taste like. Always making an effort to stop by here!

I enjoy Peet's every Saturday and it is so deland the coffee is so good. To top it off Sylvia and all the other staff are so friendly and treat me like a queen. It is the highlight of my whole week.😁

I'm from Berkeley, CA where Peet's began in the late 60's
I lived 2 blocks from the original shop for 10 years.
The last time I was in Chicago, my wife and I walked 4 miles to find the Peet's on North Ave.... in 90 degree heat...in August.
Well worth the trip!
PS.
For those that commented: "a nice alternative to Starbucks"...
Starbucks is not in the same league as Peet's.
There is no comparison.
There is pig swill (SB), and there is coffee that makes you sit up and take notice. My preference is the aged Sumatra or Sulawesi.

This place had delicious coffee and a friendly staff. They were happy to help me pick out my first bag of beans and explain some of the history of this shop.

Peet's is a fine alternative to the great almighty Starbucks. A small establishment in the North Avenue Corridor, you've got the comfort of a cafe along with the feel of some darned good (and powerful) coffee. If you choose to find a space to do work, good luck (work space seems to be at a premium). Tasty, warm, and with a well versed and dedicated staff. Prost!

Usually I can always count on perfectly pulled espresso here, but recently I had an awful last couple of cups, which kind of sucks when you're paying $4+ a cup. Both times the barista was a nice and very beautiful girl with a nose ring, but just not the practiced peet espresso I was used to.

Peet's is a nice alternative to Starbucks and this location seems to have beat the odds and been able to compete with the green mermaid wonder from Seattle. Peet's has a nice selection of all the standard coffee drinks, lattes, and espressos. The prices are fairly reasonable here at Peet's too. I like to sometimes stop here when I get off the North Avenue bus.
