Colyer Coffee House

We discovered this quaint little coffee house during a recent family trip to Albion, Illinois researching our ancestry. When we arrived, the young lady barista and pastry chef extraordinaire was in the back baking pastries.

She served up the best Caffe Macchiato including the signature swirls. What an artist. Some locals showed up and we had the best conversation about Albion.

Our ancestors all grew up in nearby Ellery in the 1800’s so it was exciting to have coffee in the downtown area they likely traveled to albeit with horse and wagon.

The coffee shop is housed in a beautifully restored home across from the town square.
If your nearby, it’s worth the drive.

A wonderful delight! Been in business for 6 plus years. Great variety of made to order coffees, ice creams, served by very pleasant staff. Even my 6 year old Grandson enjoyed the (his size cup ice cream :)

Always love supporting local establishments that have a great product! The building itself has a lot of history to it. Glad to see it so well preserved! One of these days I'll try their affogato.

This is the nicest little coffee house! The staff was very friendly! I will go back when i visit Albion!

This is the highlight of Albion. The coffee is true coffe shop quality, the building is old and nice, and the staff is friendly. Try the turtle. It's awesome. My only dislike is that they only serve lunch 2 days per week. They may be all they can handle being so small though. Highly recommended.

Lovely spot just off the main road, reasonable prices, the latte was much better than I expected, given the size of the town. We will return!

Thank you for your response. My blended coffee was watery, not frozen and my wife's latte tasted burnt and had chunks in it. There were little to no pastries and what we did get was dry and bland. My wife and I loved the decor and your staff was very pleasant and sincere. We still plan to stop again because we always give a second chance the next time we are through that area.

We had a long drive to the Albion, IL Wm. Nobbe location. We were looking for a coffee shop for a little pick-me-up and we stumbled across Colyer. SO IMPRESSED! The Barista was very helpful in suggesting special drinks and she was very friendly.

Absolutely great customer service and the best variety of gourmet coffee, lunches, and the BEST ice cream in Southern Illinois! They also have herb flavors to combine for the perfect Summer sodas!
