I ordered an Americano and a Breakfast Melt. The Americano was excellent. I ordered it in my small 8oz to go cup. It took me almost an hour to finish it as I was savouring it. The coffee didn’t turn and become less flavourful. The taste was so rich and complex. It was the best coffee I’ve ever had. I’m from Vancouver and travel a lot. I’m always trying to find the best espresso wherever I go. I’ll definitely be ordering some beans to be shipped back home. The breakfast met was worth the wait. It can be busy here so don’t be in a rush. It is island life! The melt was a much nicer breakfast than I expected. They even took the time to grill all sides of the melt.

I went for a hike in Waipio Bay and on my way back and I had to get another. This time an iced Americano. It was equally as amazing.

Looking for that “just right” coffee on the island? This is it. I’m looking for people really pulling espressos everywhere I go. I don’t always find it. This is it.
This is legit espresso as good as I’ve had in Austin, LA or New York.

We stopped by here on our way to get breakfast. The coffee and service was great. The location was easy to find and there was ample parking.

BEST Coffee Shop on Big Island. There‘s such a good vibe and I loved the Magic Bagel. Coffee also amazing of course. Recommend it everyone. :)

Came here early in the morning for coffee and light breakfast after cold night fro Mauna Kea stargazing.. nothing better than hot coffee after long cold night ..
and coffee always taste good..

I am not a coffee expert so I am not going to comment on the taste or the formula of the coffee.

I am simply disappointed that this is the amount of coffee you got if you order a cup of cappuccino to go, and you paid 4.55 for it. To me, it is not the best value.

Waimea Coffee co has fantastic coffee and great food. We got the Lox Bagel, the Breakfast melt, a kale smoothie and a doppio cappuccino with coconut milk here.

The cappuccino's foam was too frothy but the flavor profile of the espresso with the coconut milk was just perfect—I finished mine in 5 minutes. The Kale smoothie was pretty good too.

The breakfast melt was essentially a breakfast burrito. Nothing to write home about, but pretty good none the less. The lox bagel was packed in a build-it-yourself fashion, which is not a bad idea for takeout. Good job Waimea Coffee co!

Then why the 3 stars? We just did not feel welcome here. The cashier dude, the baristas (except one) and the person who finally got our food orders out, all seemed to be annoyed at having us there. When we walked up the line to order, the cashier was just sharing blankly at us, and we had to initiate the conversation and start the order. No one used any courtesy words either — "Please", "Thank you", "Enjoy your food" etc.

But here's the thing though, I totally understand why someone or why an entire coffee shop staff can have an off day. We've all had those days at work. But the folks at this shop were extremely friendly to most people, just not to us with a different skin tone. And I noticed the same lack of warmth was conferred upon other people who looked of Asian descent as well.

I'm just surprised that this happened in Hawaii of all places. Waimea Coffee co, your food was great, but I won't be back again.

I hope this review helps someone who works at Waimea be conscious of the way they treat some people, and hopefully change their ways.

Good coffee, enjoyed the sunrise latte. Music was loud inside. They were out of a fruit for the smoothie I ordered, they offered a substitute then up charged for it. Wish they would have mentioned that when offering the substitute.

Great stop for coffee in Waimea. Friendly kitty greets you in the morning if you're lucky!
