Empire Bagel & Delicatessen

We are traveling and stop at Thomasville. Ga. We read good reviews about this Bagel Shop that made New York style Bagel we decided to give it a try for breakfast. One of our best decisions. Originally I was from New York and Moved to Florida. I haven’t had such good bagel in a very long time. I recommend the western omelette on a plain bagel with hash brown. Thank you Empire Bagel for bringing back memories. Also your employee are great.

I got the classic lox bagel on an everything bagel and it was so good. The everything bagel is seasoned on both sides and sort flavorful. I also got a nitro cold brew. The service was pretty quick and the staff was friendly.

Great sandwiches and cold brew! I had never had cold brew or almond milk, but I ordered the caramel cold brew with that milk (the drink has a special name on a sheet at the register, cannot remember what it was) and it was delectable! Would come to this cute café and order again :) And thank you for being open until lunch on Sundays 😅 Tho it was cash-only for us that day since Internet was down!

Food: 5/5 Excellent. Delicious! The eggs were light and fluffy. The cheese was perfectly melted. The sausage was juicy but not greasy.

Service: 5/5 Excellent. Order at the counter. Take a seat. Collect order when called.

Ambiance: 5/5 Excellent. Chic casual. The interior has an interesting blend of late 19th century crown molding and contemporary industrial fixtures.

Cleanliness: 4/5 Very Good. The tables and seats were clean. The staff appeared washed and groomed. The floors could do with a quick sweep.

Value: 5/5 Excellent. A very filling large sandwich. Great value for money.

Overall: 5/5 Excellent. If I ever visit Thomasville, GA again I would definitely dine here. I recommend buying some unfilled bagels to go! They are amazing!

I am of NY Jewish descent (the inventors of the bagel) and grew up in NY near NYC. I will say, it is nice to find a real bagel in GA. I say real bagel because you can tell they are actually boiled before they are baked and taste good. But the bagels are good, not great. The flavor is 100% there but the texture is off. The outside is a bit too soft and inside is a little off.

I suspect that the bagels need to be boiled a little longer as they feel about halfway between a roll and an actual bagel (which has more in common with a pretzel than a roll).

So in conclusion: solid 4 stars for outside NY (would be 3 stars in NY) as they taste good and are beyond the “roll with a hole” that most places outside NY try to pass off as a bagel. A little more refinement on the texture (probably needs more boiling prior to baking) and these would be truly worthy of being called NY style bagels!

Stopped here on a whim one make ing as we were heading out of town. It was amazing! Bagels are fresh and not hard. We wished we had tried it sooner! It was really busy during the time we went, so if you are in a real hurry, it’s not a quick grab and go, unless you catch it during a time when very little people are waiting.

My go-to breakfast place in Thomasville. Very affordable food items available which is surprising considering its close proximity to downtown. I love their Empire Egg Sandwiches which offers the most bang for your buck if you want something that will fill you up for the least amount of money. The restaurant is themed after a bagel shop in New York and it’s my little slice of the north down here. The atmosphere is wonderful inside with places to watch the workers make the bagels and murals of New York City on the wall. I wish they had a restaurant in Valdosta!

After spotting them during a visit to Thomasville I was very excited to finally get what I thought would be like bagels from home...moving to North Florida from NY 4 yrs ago has left me DYING for decent bagels, pizza and many other foods that aren't as good here...well i finally stopped and got a dozen bagels as well as Lox spread...what a disappointment...first of all Lox spread is just that...Lox and Cream Cheese...nothing else, theirs had some kind of herbs in it..maybe dill? I'm unsure as it literally had no flavor, I couldn't even taste the Salmon..AT ALL! The bagels LOOKED delicious, large, firm on the outside, but unfortunately they weren't as good as I had anticipated, they were more bread like inside, not moist, chewy and airy as a real NY bagel should be, and the outside although firm was dry and the whole thing was just bland, and no shine to the outside? Real NY bagels are firm, shiny and moist and chewy inside, hard to explain, only a true New Yorker would get what I'm saying. Just not as good as I had hoped, on another note their store was clean and very nicely decorated, the staff was friendly and quick and their salads and food products looked extremely fresh, although I most likely would not get another bagel I would certainly give their sandwiches or lunch a try.

Delicious and savory breakfast bagel! I got the Empire Egg Sandwich with bacon on the garlic and cheese bagel. The service was helpful and friendly. I will definitely be back!

If you have tastebuds, then you'll LOVE Empire! It's one of the hotspots the Thomasville/Tallahassee locals enjoy. Call ahead if you're in a hurry, but stay and enjoy the atmosphere if you can!
