I've followed TCB for a while. As one of the few reputable multi roaster shops in the area, I was super pumped to have this experience. I literally selected my hotel based on its proximity to The Coffee Bar.
I arrived at open for a pour over and was told by two employees (who had no drinks up and no customers) that pour overs are not made until 11am, "because they are just not ordered frequently."
I understand pour overs are time consuming for staff and labor costs are a challenge, but if you're going to offer a product, offer it.
If you can't afford to staff properly for your menu offerings, consider changing your menu.
This is just poor management and terrible service on the part of the employees working.
Tell me it will take 5 minutes. Charge me $6+.
If there was a line or any amount of business, I would be so much more understanding.
Don't let your customer walk out the door because the baristas are so uninterested in good service and lacking the joy to brew coffee for someone who is clearly pumped to drink it.

Great coffee. Coming from NZ, a country who prides themselves on great food and coffee, this was a major concern for me to get great coffee that wasn't like a milkshake 😁😁. I guarantee the coffee bar. VISUALLY appealing identity. Went back again for more. Lovely staff, Jennie New Zealand

If you're from NYC and miss those Manhattan coffee shops, make a visit to The Coffee Bar. Don't let the fact that it's in the ground floor of a glass office building fool you. Once you walk inside, you're transported away from the stiff, government feel that DC can have (Though this is quickly changing) and into a magical world reminiscent of the Big Apple.
It's a small coffee shop mainly designed for people to get their artisan latte or tea to go, but if you want to stay, the atmosphere is inspiring and there's window seating and one long wooden table. It's decorated simply yet NYC artsy.
The coffee is good (Their iced latte is one of the best in DC) and they sell an array of pastries under a small glass panel.
You can't go wrong at The Coffee Bar.

Coffee was good. Staff needs bit more training to handle customers of different type. There is one type who come daily and can be served fast. Others who are new need more details, choices etc. I give Coffee 5 star but staff was in a rush and i could not ask for hazelnet flavor so minus one.

First things first, the coffee is excellent and I really enjoyed the dirty chai that I ordered. Also, I really like that payment at this cafe is quick, efficient, and I have the option to have my receipt emailed to me. I’m all about being green, whenever possible. Coffee rating is 5 stars; customer service rating is 3 stars. Now to my one critique: please minimize arguing with your customers. I made a simple request this morning that my cup not be labeled as “Dirty Pam”. Apparently, the cup naming thing is done a certain way and it seemed to me that this location had never received a critique on this prior to today. It’s not that big a deal but why argue with me on this? If I ask for my name not to be preceded by the word “dirty” then this should be done without being ‘forced’ to explain why I made the request. The lady (I interacted with) gave me a very mean look for requesting this. She was also quite aloof. For me, customer service is more important than the product or service. Please understand that by improving your customer service, you will have customer loyalty. Let’s hope improvement is made on this.

The greatest place to have a good coffee when you visit Washington DC!
I personally recommend the cappuccino, it is amazing!
And the people working there are very nice and professional. Thank you guys, you manage to make me happy everytime I get my coffee during my lunch break!

My favorite turmeric latte lives here. Have tried over a dozen different turmeric lattes in Manhattan, DC, and Tampa. Have visited this shop 25+ times! And EVERY time, it's amazing. The staff is also incredibly friendly and try to memorize all their customers' names. Dalton's my guy.

A 'coffee bar'. That's it. No WiFi. Small pastry eats. Excellent single origin americano.

Best coffee place in downtown Washington

Great espresso beverages and rotating 'guest' roasts to try. Friendly baristas who are always willing to help you find a drink to enjoy.
Just note that it's a small location with very little space to stop for a conversation or do any work. No wifi available.
