An okay coffee shop but doesn't compare to the alternatives in DC. They don't have wifi or syrups to use in lattes and such. The ambiance is also a little cold for a coffee shop. With so many other options in DC, I would recommend they add some more options to their menu and offer wifi, even if for a limited time. This coffee shop is right near a cool bike trail so it's not too hard to get to if you bike in DC, and in a newer building in the area. It has potential but just need some tweaks to survive the coffee world of DC!

Same experience as others during the last several months. I understand precaution and adaptability during this time, but at a certain point it just reaches a level that makes it not only difficult to be a customer, but unpleasant. Never a hello, never a thank you, you are simply treated as the contagion. We were yelled at for getting too close to the already barricaded outside door. You guys should just close if this is the product you are serving. All that said, the house made scones are quite nice.

Coffee was delicious. Way tastier than Blue bottle or Compass. Madeline went out of her way to treat myself and another customer very well. I'm from out of state, but it felt like my hometown coffee shop.

Wonderful cafe with lots of indoor and outdoor seating and delicious coffee! No wifi.

Small, but modern. Very good coffee. Got an iced pour over and was impressed with the coffee quality. Definitely recommended and not too pricy- pour over happy hours week days in the afternoons!

Same great coffee as the original location but with more space. The new interior is quite nice too. In a little bit of a strange spot but worth a trip if for no other reason than to see their fancy pour over machine.

Qualia Coffee is positioning itself to be THE coffee shop of the neighborhood of Eckington. Currently, it's the only coffee shop in Eckington. If you're a fan of Big Bear in nearby Bloomingdale, Qualia Coffee has a very different vibe. Big Bear Cafe looks like the setting of a flower crown class whereas Qualia Coffee appears much more commercial.
It's a medium sized coffee shop just off of New York Ave and Florida in the bottom of a new condo building. It's hard to notice if you're driving by, but if you're looking for it, you'll be able to find it. They open at 7AM.
They roast their beans in Petworth so it's local. Their equipment shows they can make a good latte and I recommend ordering one. If you need a bite, they don't sell standard coffee shop pastries, which is refreshing. They sell mini muffins from a company that employs those disadvantaged in DC and bagel bites stuffed with different cream cheeses. All of it is good.
There are a few small tables to the side and window seating. How it's laid out, there's a large empty space in the middle, which oddly makes it inviting.
If you live in Eckington, it's worth a shot (or a double shot). If you're looking for DC's best coffee shop, I wouldn't add Qualia Coffee to the top 5 list (That's reserved for Colony Club, Maketto, Vigilante, Peregrine, and La Colombe), but it may make the top 15 list!

The best cappucino I can get in my area and the staff are great. I go several times a week!

Delicious coffee, and great staff! I wish more places around the city would hire more deaf and hard of hearing people like they have. It's nice to see so many parts of our community working together in one place!

Ordered two horchatas and a cold brew. Both horchatas were gross. The barista literally poured the pre-made horchata into a cup from a bottle. It tasted as unauthentic as you could get but it could be my fault for expecting authenticity? Anyway, I can’t attest to the cold brew but it looked okay.
