Qualia Coffee

If there was a 0 star option, I would have selected it. Do not be fooled into thinking that this *is a specialty coffee shop just because they use a Slayer machine (beautiful *may I add) or because they sell home brewing equipment. The espresso was bland and left a bitter aftertaste, probably from being over over extracted. Furthermore, the barister was very unfriendly and quite rude. They have a lot to learn about both customer service and the 3rd wave coffee scene. You're better off going to Starbucks - at least there you get free WiFi!

Sadly, the customer service at this location fails in comparison to their shop on Georgia Ave. I visited this location twice. The first time, the experience was great. The barista was friendly and inviting, and even made sure my order was completed to perfection. The second time, however, a different barista did even take the time to acknowledge I was in the store, even though I was the only person in the shop at the time. I felt like I was inconveniencing the barista by ordering something. Not sure there will be a third visit.

I want to like Qualia, they have great lattes and are the closest coffee shop to home. The service has been lacking here in recent months. I appreciate the commitment to safety, but I sometimes choose other places to go just to avoid being treated rudely. Today’s visit wasn’t as bad as usual so maybe things are changing! We’ll see — I hope so!

This is an amazing coffee joint in an area that desperately needed one! The coffee has a bold, distinct flavor (both hot and iced) that make even black coffee drinks feel like a treat. The baked goods are almost all made at their other locations. Get the bagel balls (2 for $3) to snack while you sip on your coffee. Great staff and cozy vibe.

I know how big pain to build a new business. I didn't leave low stars but as a upscale coffee shop, you shouldn't provide to your clients coffee from thermos. Because you are calling yourself as "Coffee Shop" you always have to provide fresh and warm coffee with different flavors. Employee didn't ask my choice about dark, medium or light. To be honest coffee was awesome! but it has to be a little warm. Also as a architect and interior designer, store is not friendly for a coffee shop. It has to be more warm with colors and decoration stuff. The last thing is large coffee size is smaller than regular mid size coffee.

The coffee was delicious. But I'm posting a review because the service was so bad that ill never go back. I've been supporting local businesses as best I can during the pandemic...my support for this place is letting them know they have a serious customer service problem. Words like hello, please, and thank you don't threaten anyone's health or safety

I had a 12oz. Cup of their Brazilian Coffee and it had me wanting to get out at the nearest red light and run the rest of the way to my job. This coffee is some of the best, and if not the best that I have had in a very long time. And the staff is very kind.

Live around the corner. Usually walk the extra 10 minutes to another coffee place because every time I stop here the service is laughably bad. Order online and you’ll walk in 10 minutes later to an empty shop and the barista will say “looks like you’re order will be ready in 8 minutes”. I’ve even watched as the barista sits on their phone like I’m not even there. We are counting the minutes until Union Kitchen opens next door.

The lattes here are out of this world delicious, and are the best that DC has to offer (from my experience). Get yourself a latte and a cheddar chive biscuit and you are all set to have a fantastic day.
