With more than 50 cafes across the United States, the Anacostia cafe is the first one in a low to moderate income neighborhood (explained to me by a staff member as I walked into this location). Located in the heart of historic Anacostia at the corner of Good Hope and MLK Ave SE, here's my experience:
1) Space: Located on the first level of new development, the space is new. When you walk in, you pass two Capital One ATMs. Open two more glass doors to enter the cafe. It's set up like a Peet's coffee shop with a large open industrial room with plenty of tables, each with outlets. It's well-kept and inviting.
2) Menu: The cafe functions like a Peet's coffee shop with a full coffee menu from drip coffee to vanilla lattes. They have pastries and other food items for sale and an area with packaged snacks (some are locally made). If you're Capital One card holder, you get 50% off on drinks making this the best coffee deal in the area. Coffee drinks comes in medium and large sizes.
3) Service: The staff are friendly, energetic and passionate. The moment I walked in, a staff member named Jordan walked me through the set up and mission. She was so helpful as were every staff I interacted with. It seems like a great team!
4) Amenities: They have strong, free wifi, outlets everywhere and two rooms that will open in the new year (pending the new strand of covid). One room is first-come first-served for quiet work space. The other is a meeting room that is set up for eight people for free use by students and non-profits. Restrooms are in the back and kept clean.
5) Community: According to the staff, they are invested in the community. In addition to a free meeting room for local students and non-profits, they offer financial literacy classes for neighbors.
I had the pleasure of walking into this community serving Cafe that happens to be The Capital One Bank Cafe. I was greeted and welcomed by the amazing Joanie. Extremely friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and that contributes to the environment being warm and inviting. I was offered a free beverage, which was great by the way but I don't remember the name of it🤦🏽♀️😄 I was then introduced to Johnny, the manager another friendly and warm person that added to overall enlightening experience. Johnny, also notably knowledgeable and very culturally aware makes this Capital One Bank Cafe a Ward 8 Community Service Gem. No pressure to apply for anything or even spend your money, just great service which makes you genuinely want to. I've never wanted to bank with Capital One before but I have a feeling this may change. Thank You all for the great experience!
Fantastic work environment and wonderful service. I can't even remember the amount of positive conversations and helpful hands the staff have shared with me. But I'll take a moment to shout out Johnathan and Sandra for their hospitality. This location is work-remote must for me.
The Capital One Cafe consistently offers a quality customer experience to every patron. This space has a great vibe/energy that lends itself to remote work, meetings, or social connections. Each time I visit, I feel welcomed and appreciated. There is a clear and intentional community focus that comes through in every interaction. I have observed numerous patrons come and go throughout the day while receiving world-class service no matter what need they may have. The staff is engaging, helpful, and professional at all times. The addition of this cafe in Anacostia is definitely a shift and welcome change from the traditional banking experience. I am a proud DC resident and business owner, who now uses this location as my satellite office!
The service was excellent. Jasmine, the ambassador, greeted me and gave me a complimentary coffee due to it being my first visit. I also tried the Turkey egg and cheese croissant that Ms. Sandra prepared for me. It was delicious. I also got to speak to the manager Theresa and ambassador Simba: excellent customer service and intentional information was shared.
Let me share the happiness and warmth I receive when walking into this place!!! My first time here was this summer. I was greeted by Victor who not only gave me the entire run down of why coupling banking and coffee goes hand in hand....he respectfully conversed on other topics around finances, the Anacostia neighborhood and and array of other things community!
I enjoy Jonathan's professionalism and warmth. He is always sharing the happenings with Capital One and I even celebrated the 1 yr anniversary with them a couple of weeks ago.
Let's talk about The Magical Fly Ms. Kim! She somehow has finessed properly making every drink for me, and she has also shared her sweet warmth by asking about my 6 yr old daughter that I occasionally bring through for a fancy drink!
Lastly Jasmine and Fray are beautiful Gems...engaging in conversation, ways business can pour into communities......
Capital One has done it with this location... Please use this store and The Royalty employed here to possibly mimick its greatness!!!
Loveeeee this cafe! It's my second time stopping by and the space is extremely conducive for work, meetings, and planning. The staffs hospitality and assistance with any and everything is A1. Hands down the best location I've visited in my 4 years of living in DC & would 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a new go-to work space.
Hands down, my favorite coffee shop! I look for them when I travel. The staff is warm and welcoming. The drinks at the café are excellent. The workspace is quiet and never crowded. There’s ample street parking within a block of the location. Several restaurants are in walking distance.

This is the best Capital One Cafe. The amazing staff of Jon P, John M., Fray, Jasmine, and Sandra makes this cozy cafe seems like home.
