This place is an oasis for people craving some coffee and food. It is historic and run efficiently by a couple who live right here. I liked their croissant with ham and cheese with an extra sweet iced mocha.

Hidden Gem on Highway 70, 40 minutes north of Chico / Oroville, Ca. Very clean, pet friendly, and attentive staff. Better quality Café type food amd drinks. We came around lunch time and enjoyed sitting on the patio with our 3 large dogs. This is a great place to relax and refresh.

The Feather River Scenic Byway route
winds through the magnificent Feather River Canyon
Few California highways feature such natural beauty and diversity in terrain, landscape,
wildlife and elevation as the Canyon Route
If you like history stopping by the Old Rock house
is a must.

In 1915 Frank Barton Jr. moved to Yankee Hill with his father Frank Barton Sr. They filed two mining claims near the site of the future Rock House. After his father died in 1935, Frank Barton Jr. sold the land to Stephen Detlow

Detlow’s filed a 20-acre mining claim near the Rock House site on the property they acquired. Stephen also started building several stone structures on the property

When completed the stone structures served as a gas station and eatery. It was originally called “The Detlow”. Some years later, the name was changed to the “Rock House”

The Nov 2018 Camp Fire in Butte County, Ca was devastating to many people in Butte County

Concow and Yankee Hill were always small communities (approximately 300 people total) with few amenities, but their history goes back to the 1850’s
This area was blessed with several historic structures from the past but in 2018 they lost the Lunt home, the turn of the century Armbruster home, both on Nelson Bar Road, the 1949 Grange building on Big Bend Road
The only places left in Yankee Hill and Concow to informally gather are the old Messilla Valley School House and two eating establishments, The Rock House and Scooters.

We need to support these few remaining historic structures so these important fixtures
in the community’s identity still exist for the current residents and those that want to rebuild and return in the future

The owner Karen McGowan has really made this place spectacular. The food is satisfying and the atmosphere is welcoming.

They serve cheeseburgers, hot sandwiches, soup, pizza, salads, bagels and sweets.
They also serve Beer, cocktails and Wine

This is a must stop spot on highway 70. A cute cafe with super friendly staff. They had a good idea for food options even for vegetarians. The stone build was burnt in the paradise, and the owners have creatively adapted by creating beautiful outdoor dining in the ruins. It Nice to see a small business trying everything to bounce back after such a tragedy.

We love this sweet little cafe!! They have emerged from the Camp Fire as a staple in the highway 70 corridor. We have enjoyed smoothies, coffee, pizza, muffins, burgers, bagels and also some live music! It’s a great place to visit and eat! Thanks for being one of the o Kay restaurants for miles around!

The food and coffee were exceptional! You can tell the owner takes pride in what she prepares for customers. Also stayed in the yurt which was lovely and had a very comfy bed. Even with the hwy beyond temporarily closed, this place is well worth a visit.

What an awesome place! Beautiful. The food was good. Definitely a great spot for a wedding reception. All kinds of neat stuff to look at and randomly places games and puzzles on the tables. Great experience.

First time there and I didn't want to leave, I can't wait to go back and try something different. I forgot my phone to take pictures, or I would have shared the the great scenery. Especially the goat hahaha

The food was great. Very friendly service. There is only outside dining because of the fire but it was nice. It was a lot cooler than in town. They had a couple people playing music and it was nice. I would go back for sure.

Can't reccomend this place enough. Beautiful little spot, great food, served by even greater staff. I can't wait to go back again on a Saturday evening for their live music!
