Birkholm's Bakery & Cafe

So a group of us gals went for a quick trip to try several specialties in town. Hands down this shop had the best tasting danishes. Texture & flavor with perfection in sweetness. Our particular server lacked hospitality but that’s not why we were there. When we were done trying others in town, we went back to stock up for friends back home to try our treasured finds! My personal favorite was the strawberry cheese danish. Yum!

Visiting Solvang for a week. Stopped by three times while we were there. Great selection of sweets. It should be on your list of places to visit when in Solvang.

The family owned and run comes through loud and clear at this little gem. The treats and coffee are perfection and the chopped salad to balance out the decadent sweets was fresh and fast. Solvang tourist trap mentality has missed this place and what a welcome step back into time to when service and friendliness mattered.

(Bakery Rating Only) My husband and I got this random idea to get 3 of the same items from 3 different bakeries in Solvang for fun. We thought there would be minor differences but we're kind of blown away at how stale and dry the Birkholm's items were. They tasted like fridge and were hard. The 2 star rating was due to the staff being really friendly but I'd probably go elsewhere next time we are in town looking for baked goods. Hopefully you guys can rework how much you are baking and when you are throwing out/donating, so that you are serving fresh items. This was on a Thursday, maybe the day of the week has something to do with it?

The people were very nice and accommodating, not pushy or anything like that. The location was clean and the atmosphere enjoyable. The problem I have with it and the reason for the 3 stars was the quality of bread. We bought slider roles which once opened from the package tasted stale and expired. Also, we bought some other roles which were hard as a rock and carried a similar taste to the sliders. I love great service and atmosphere, but if the food can't back it up then it's simply disappointing.

My daughter, son and I decided to try out this place while visiting Solvang this morning. We were immediately greeted with a friendly face and a younger lady helped us out and she had great people and customer service skills. The cinnamon buns, danishes and macaroons were all amazing! Would recommend this place!
