Coffee was quite good. Bagels and sandwiches were novel and interesting, though they over-toasted the bagels; we had to get one replaced because it was blackened to the point of inedibility.

The coffee is amazing, probably my favorite in San Diego right up there with Bird Rock. I've never had a bad experience with the staff, they're incredibly friendly!
Fair word of warning, it can be at times hard to find seating inside because it's a small shop. Thankfully the weather is good 9 times out of 10 so outside seating is equally welcome.
Keep up the good work Hawthorn!

So friendly. Great coffee. Will be coming back.

Knowing that Hawthorn is a shop that serves Cat & Cloud coffee, I had high expectations. We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door by a bright and cheery staff! While in line I noticed their toast options as we decided to try some out! Their "King" toast is fantastic and I look forward to making some of my own at home! The avocado toast with it's coarse ground mustard and perfectly ripe avocado was the avocado toast you should expect. The single origin espresso was some of the best that I've had and they definitely lived up to my expectations, probably more! It's a must visit!

Friendly service and carefully brewed coffee makes Hawthorn one of our top picks for coffee when in the area. Interior Seating was limited, but the weather is great most of the time and being outside is fine. Definitely worth trying if you're into 3rd wave coffee.

Great coffee. Some tasty pastries to choose from. (A couple gluten free bites-options as well). Not a place that has a lot of food, just a small selection of pastries that are easily paired with coffee.
Fresh / simple decor. Plugs / Wi-Fi. Street parking. Great staff. Quick service. I like the vibe.
I'll def be back.

Got a cold brew and the avo toast here while I hung out and did some work. Very nice place to chill and snack. The toasts are incredible! Definitely check them out when you're here. Owners -- fix that squeaky door!

Amazingly fantastic coffee!! I've had the Parliament Mocha which is the perfect balance of coffee and chocolate. My absolute favorite is their espresso. I have it poured over ice, add some cream and a splash of their homemade vanilla sweetner, the taste is heaven in a cup! The quality of the coffee is so bold and rich, I crave it constantly!! I wish I lived back in SD so I could enjoy it daily. Thank you Hawthorne Coffee!! You guys definitely know how to do coffee!

Incredible little shop in a great area. By far the best cold brew I've had in san diego. The staff is super friendly and happy to make your drinks, and the place itself is really light and bright.
If you like better buzz definitely give this smaller business a try, itll be your new favorite. Make sure to try a specialty drink, they are doing some really great, unique things here.

Coffee was super tasty! Cute atmosphere too! Great place to go if you're into that trendy pop up local coffee scene, but be ready to pay the trendy price!
I got a bahn-mi toast, which was all the dressings of a traditional bahn-mi sandwich, minus the meat, for about $8, almost $9. It was honestly super disappointing for almost $9 spent. I would have been so much happier if they just threw some meat on that and put the two halves of toast together and made it a sandwich. As toast it was incredibly hard to eat as it all fell apart on me, not held together by a top piece of toast. Tasty? Yes. Spicy? Yes. (And a hot coffee does NOT go well with spice)
