AMAZING food, incredible selection of pastries, great vibes, and lovely staff. Can’t recommend enough.

Delicious sandwiches and pastries in a causal tasteful environment that is comfortable and welcoming. Fantastic service and a really nice interior. Everything is a bit overpriced but the overall experience more than makes up for it.

Olivia Xing

Light and healthy and not overpriced food with interestingly curated flavors. For example, on the avocado toast I had, there’s minced pistachio and sea salt and chili and mint

Downgrading my review from 4 stars to 2. I initially loved this neighborhood place. But the staff is becoming more and more obtuse and the atmosphere less friendly. I recently got a touch of food poisoning after eating here. I wouldn't say that is the norm. But it happened and I most likely won't return for a long time.

For a place called "friends & family" I certainly didn't feel welcomed.
My husband and I recently moved to the neighborhood and have been looking for our new regular breakfast spot. Friends & family is in walking distance from our house and we were very excited to try it!

When we walked in on Monday we were really impressed with the relaxed atmosphere, and gorgeous pastry case. The menu was right up our ally, so we thought we'd found our new haunt.

My husband complimented the pastry case remarking that "it all looks so good!" The girl behind the counter rolled her eyes.

My husband ordered the hash, coffees, and I ordered the eggs your way over medium.

We settled in and my eggs arrived an underdone over easy. The whites were not done! They were the texture of snot, (I'm sorry, but they were).
I brought my plate to the girl and cheerfully asked if I could have my eggs cooked a little longer, please (no big deal! I get it!).

She took my plate and then came back to clarify that I wanted eggs over medium. I said, yes, and just that the whites needed to be done longer. We waited an uncomfortably long time and finally a man came and DROPPED my new dish in front of me. Yes, dropped, the plate was practically spinning, and stomped off without a word.
I could see that they weren't medium, they were even less done then before simply by looking at them jiggle!

The first among many corroborating searches on Google defines an over medium egg as —

"Over-medium – The flipped egg is cooked slightly longer so the yolk is only partially runny. The egg white is completely cooked"

If those eggs were over medium what in God's name is over easy? Two raw eggs in your plate?

I really didn't appreciate being made to feel unwelcome at this business because some hipster chef thinks it's uncool to eat cooked eggs. This isn't steak, the attitude is wildly unnecessary.

But no, Chef-boy-R-Jerk had to make a point, huh? Way to treat your 'friends and family'.

I was nauseated by these eggs, so I left with my stomach turned. Too bad because it's so close to our house. We'll just keep patronizing Clark St. diner and House of Pies.

Great bakery options! The coffee is good, alittle High in price ($5.) The place is clean, open, good designs & creative overall. Only place like it within a 1/2 mile radius-

I remember the salads used to be $5 in 2020 but now they’re $15 + tax.

Coffee is lackluster and underwhelming. The service stinks. The tall skinny girl is apathetic and barely present. Like she's straight up over it and you're bothering her. Maybe she's been in LA too long without getting any callbacks. Lol.

The food is good but a little overpriced for the quality.

Any baked items are top notch. If you order any food make sure to get something with bread.

Maybe they should stick to just being a bakery?

The quiche and spinach galette are fantastic. Unfortunately, the guy at the register was unfriendly and made a face when I put change in the tip jar. My bill was $11.

Had a complimentary breakfast burrito and loved it. Really tasty and filling.

This is my go to coffee place. They have great breakfast options and this weekend I bought some bread. They gave me the wrong bread I came in today 3 days later and mentioned it to them so I would know how to order better and I was given the bread I originally wanted. I love places like these with great customer service. Thank you guys will be back again and again.
