Holding a Clark Street croissant in my hand, I was impressed by its pretty layers, they are fine and golden. The first bite, however, betrays the appearance because only the edge of these layers are actually crispy. As a result, I didn't get a lot of flakes like I expected. The taste is also on the sweet side–not to my liking. The same dough texture goes for the gruyere thyme snail, although I enjoyed this one a little better because it has an earthy, savory flavor.
Despite not being a fan of their croissants, I keep going back to Clark Street because every time I am at their Echo Park bakery, I find more appealing items in their long pastry counter than I can handle in one visit. I enjoyed the Swedish cardamom bun, it is soft with a strong, inviting cardamom flavor. I also loved the monkey bread, the crispy crust contrasts nicely with the chewy pull-apart texture. The cinnamon scent is aromatic but not overwhelming. On the other hand, their twice-baked saffron pistachio croissant failed to impress me, especially at its $7 price tag.
I've got their bread a couple of times too, once the seeded sourdough loaf, the other time raisin and walnut bread. Both times I liked it.

In Short,
It’s a good spot but I wouldn’t wait in line to eat or to sit. Quickie type place for pasties and sandwiches.
With a few more details,
There was a little bit of a wait to get to the cashier to order. Normal line nothing crazy. Staff delivering the sandwiches were nice but behind the counter it felt a bit gloomy. Regardless let’s move on to the food. The almond croissant had a good flavor but it felt more like a scone rather than a flaky croissant. I liked it but not the texture I was expecting.
The breakfast sandwich was fantastic. Loved it. Prob that’s what you should order if you’re reading this.
Parking might be a bit challenging and if you’re going there to sit on your laptop or work, most tables are already taken and don’t get up very often.
Nonetheless, decent spot.

My wife has been coming to this spot for some time now and she would always rave about it to me. Had the time to visit the other day and immediately knew this place would become a staple for me. Tried several things because I was secretly wondering if there was something I wouldn't like ahah, but everything was wonderful.. tried an oatmeal cookie that was soft inside, crispy outside. Tried the Avocado toast that was INCREDIBLE I don't know how they dress the avocado but it's amazing. The Italian tuna felt so fun to have. The breakfast burrito was probably the least impressive to me, but was still great regardless! My wife also had some matcha pistachio pastry that I didn't get to try that she said was incredible. Thank your Clark Street family!

Can’t get enough of @clarkstreetbread ‘s almond croissant🥐 It’s super flaky and generous with the almond flakes and frangipane (which is the almond-flavored custard)😍
What I ordered:
-Swedish Cardamon Bun
-Pain Au Raisins
-Pain An Chocolat
-Almond Crossant (the BEST!)
*make sure you order them online first!!

Excellent Pastries (almost) *excellent sandwiches
The pastries here are very well executed. Terrific croissants & rolls. The coffee (meh). The sandwiches have really yummy recipes, with very good ingredients, but lack execution in their assembly. You wonder if the person making the sandwich has ever made a sandwich. The Italian Tuna (very yummy) comes with the bread cut offset & is basically stacked so lopsided it will fall all over you. If yummy take the time to restock it, you will be happy, delicious. The grilled cheese came out burnt, when asking for a replacement I got one with the cheese unmelted? Maybe an overcompensation, but grilled cheese should be excellent with the bread quality. Definitely skip it here.

Such a good breakfast sandwich. Nice atmosphere on the patio. Bomb savory scone! Can have a line, but ordering ahead online can help. Friendly staff!

Ventured out this morning to Echo Park, looking for a new bakery experience. Mentioned by Easter. Bought five things to try. Mostly good as expected but the Swedish cardamom bun was under-baked.

Clark Street Echo Park is one of the best bakeries/cafes around! Discovering this place by chance, close to my abode was a Godsend! All their breads are baked fresh and their sandwiches are delicious. Specifically, The Club sandwich which is a generous portion of Fresh sliced Turkey, Crispy Bacon, Ripe Avocados, Lettuce and Tomato wrapped by a light fresh baked bread complimented by a house sauce which is tasty but not overwhelming.
In addition, the setting very spacious with a cool outdoor patio (indoor dining closed due to Covid) for a relaxing dining experience. The staff here are very friendly and not pretentious like many new cafes these days. They are attentive and greet you with a smile offering patience for any questions you might have.
A wonderful place to eat or just have a cup of Joe. Do yourself a service and try one of their many freshly baked breads!

Honestly this is my favorite spot. I enjoy their bread but don't partake in the viennoiserie. I often get it delivered on the weekend, my baguette is usually still warm from the oven. Sometimes I journey to the cafe so I can sit on the patio and people watch. They have nice coffee and breakfast options.

I love their Danish rye loaf but I am done coming for anything else. Despite there always being more employees than customers, it's always a 30 minute ish wait for a pricey but mediocre coffee. Pastries and sandwiches are not impressive for the price either. I wanted to like it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
