We are from Germany and were on a two weeks roundtrip through California, Arizona, Utah and Nevada. Sequoia national Forest was our last stage before heading back to SFO. We got the recommendation at Corral Creek Lodge were we stayed and went there for breakfast twice. This is why:
The Cracked Egg Cafe looked purely "original" to us, not at all touristy. It has its very own character and that is what we almost enjoyed the most about it :-) It does not even try to be perfect in a mainstream way - it is just perfectly itself. Other than that the food is of really good quality (I had the oatmeal twice , my daughter pancakes which were really fluffy inside and slightly crispy outside and the Denver omelet at our 2nd visit, which was also great and was big enough to serve us (the rest of it) as a lunch pack for our hike that day.
Comment on the picture: We had never seen these bug fans before :-) They didn't have a lot of work to do, but we liked them.
Comment on the Date: we were there at 29th and 30th Aug. I just found out that I had posted this comment wrongly at the Cracked Egg cafe in New New Jersey :-) I hope I am in the right place now (Big Blue Road, Kernville, CA).

Small place but really good! Not too pricey real laid back especially for people comin from camping! Small interior but there is outdoor seating. Normal complaints from outdoor seating sun flies bees. Food was fantastic real food! My husband said the corn beef and hash was the best he has ever had and was real homemade stuff! I went simple cheese and ham omlette delicious and so was the biscuits and gravy!!

Super good food and very friendly service. Definitely a little rough around the edges, but the Eggs benedict was the best I've ever had, and the O'Brien potatoes were delicious! Loved overhearing the staff talk about Cheryl's Diner - sounds like there is a bit of a town rivalry between the two places!

Delicious food! Got the Avocado and cheese skillet with sourdough bread. Coffee. My wife order the french toast combo and my son the pancakes combo. Portions were huge! Nice buttery pancakes. We hit this spot on our way out of the rivernook camp. Great way to say goodbye to kernville

Great small family owned breakfast place. Serves lunch as well. Had the ground beef skillet. Was made very well, and the service was great as well. Was in the area for a couple days decided to stop here for breakfast.. I do recommend..

This place is great! Service is wonderful and the food is amazing. Lots of variety in the menu and breakfast is served all day. Definitely been around awhile and a local favorite. Highly recommend. Pricing is comparable to other "like diners", i.e. 2 adults ate for +/-$30 including drinks.

Great little hole-in-the-wall diner. Asada breakfast burrito was awesome! Homemade gravy just like mom used to make.

Great restaurant with good food and reasonable price. Employees were talking a lot while we were eating, nothing wrong with that, but couldn’t help but over hear some things that were not quite appropriate. Good food though.

Carol was amazing. She served our huge group and put up with our custom orders. The outdoor seating area was nice. Covered shaded areas and umbrellas too. No one ever had an empty drink. She kept bringing pitchers of water so our group could fill up our water containers.( we were camping) there was parking right up front for our whole group and we all enjoyed our food. We will be back again! Thanks
