Shady shady shady.... Read on their website that after mush(sp?) consideration they decided to be open today with limited seating and longer wait times. Also on website they say they are having the 1/2 price Burger night go on as usual. Upon arrival, they have a sign out front that states that every Tuesday is 1/2 price burgers.
Go in, get seated, server comes to the table and states, "just so you know, 1/2 price burgers isn't being offered tonight."
I state that it is on their website and on the sign out front.
Server says that the management is aware and that she is just an employee.
To me that's some shady bullsh*t. Bait and switch much?
Lost a customer for sure. Not that they would care.

So... we don't live in Eureka, we are just passing through. My boyfriend had just driven for 8 hours straight and our hotel is in Eureka so we were trying to search for any restaurants still serving after 9:30pm since that was going to be our arrival time. I finally found Sixth and E which Google said was open until 10 so I called to ask how late they were serving food tonight and she said 10 so I specifically asked if we arrived at 9:30 could we still get seated and she said yes. We arrived at 9:25 and they had just put up all of the chairs and she told me they are closing because they were slow tonight. The ONLY reason I did not give this place one star is because she was very friendly and apologized and offered to make us food to go.
We looked at their menu (I already knew what I wanted because I had looked at their menu online earlier) and I noticed that their taco plates were 22.00 and 24.00 according to their in person menu but online it had them listed at 17.99 and 18.99. I already thought that was a little high for 3 tacos and beans but we were desperate. If I had known ahead of time that 3 tacos from a little dive bar were going to cost 24.00, we would have gone to Taco Bell honestly. My boyfriend convinced me we should just order them as he was hungry and so tired. He did have a delicious Humboldt cherry cider in a can while we waited.
Fast forward to eating the tacos in our hotel. Their online menu on Google had clearly said that the tacos were served on blue corn tortillas (which is why I ordered them as I am allergic to gluten). We open up the box and lo and behold they are on flour tortillas. I had to scrape out the insides and eat it like that. It was mediocre. The side of black beans they included with them were inedible. They weren't completely cooked and tasted like they had been soaking all day in salt water.
We passed a Taco Bell on the way to 6th and E and there were 10 cars in line. Maybe if this bar had better prices or better food or (gasp) both, they would have been busy enough to stay open til their advertised closing time.
I truly dislike writing negative reviews and usually don't, the majority of my reviews are positive. This is an unfortunate exception.

I had cheese burgers and it was very delicious, I gave it only 3 stars because the fries was a bit soggy.

Good food and service. The atmosphere is looking a bit run down.

Sketchy staff!! Paid half the $125. in cash, half on card (split w/my cousin) I was charged extra. When I mentioned the bill was to be divided in half, was told the cash wasn't half of the bill. I'll show you, we watched as she went to the register, pull cash from her apron, brought it over to show us. It was a crumpled mess of bills. My cousin only had twenties & ones that were smooth and clean as they had just been to the bank and placed in their wallet! While talking to a local at a store, they knew the exact place without us saying their name. Was told staff very sketchy, when paying with cash & always out of menu items. Will say the food was good. Although they were out of fish so, no fish & chips or fish sandwiches, ran out one of the beers on tab.

Good food, good atmosphere and decent pricing on burgers. Looked like there was a solid beer selection and the desserts sounded enticing, although I didn't partake.

This place is bomb! Best burgers in Humboldt for sure, and their Mediterranean chicken superb. Picture is of half a lamb burger with garlic fries.
