So happy a Philz finally opened in San Diego! The mint mojito is my favorite; I had never had coffee with mint before. They also have gluten free options, I highly suggest indulging in the mediterranean avocado toast; it's seasoned to perfection. Spacious location with plenty of seating. Parking can be a hassle on the weekends, aim for parking on side streets.

The bacon burrito was minus the bacon. The monkey bread was a touch dry. If you like lattes, go elsewhere. Otherwise coffee is good

So happy to see Philz down in San Diego county. The atmosphere here is definitely more SoCal than the Bay Area locations; it compliments the neighborhood well. This is the only coffee I enjoy drinking black.

Excellent pour over coffee and baked goods. Great service, moderate prices, fun vibe. One of the best places for coffee in Encinitas.

This Philz is just as good as the rest. The coffee is seriously the best I have ever had. The mint mojito is great and I also buy their coffee for home!

Not what I expected really, I didnt realize that their coffees were flavored. when I asked them what the descriptions were in the menu, the barista told me they were subtle undertones making me think it would be just coffee beans. Instead they were actual flavorings added to beans and the flavor wasnt subtle either, the coffee was no different then cheap flavored beans you can get in any grocery store.

I like the Philz in downtown LA and checked this one out in Encinitas right on PCH. This one is more spacious, very clean with excellent service.

My Mocha was really good. There is ample seating, indoors/outdoors and nice artwork.

I have been drinking only espresso for 15+ years because espresso has lower acidity than drip coffee which upset my stomach, my son convinced me to try a Philz Coffee pour over. It tasted great and no upset stomach!

Did not have all their options ☹️

As others have mentioned, if you want anything than a pour over then you’re out of luck. If you want milk or sugar a merry dance back and forth between you and the barista is required; because at 45 years of age the owner apparently believes I have yet to acquire skills needed to add my own. My third attempt yielded enough of both to adequately adjust the taste. Apparently they want the coffee to be to their liking, a battle for which I am well equipped.

I think the thought process might be simplicity. But it simply is not simple; the wife’s black tea having a ‘me too’ moment as it was assaulted by not one but two sprigs of mint, an attack which, when combined with foamed milk, left her heading back inside with a look of abject dismay furrowing her English Teasmith brow. The Barista’s, unable to fully explain their terrible decisions, placated the wife with a new cup that remained black tea, untrainted by alleyway herbs or other such adornments. To their credit, they did send her back to the patio with a rather wonderful complimentary almond croissant and tales of how nice and friendly the Tea Error PR Department could be.

Sarcasm aside, they have an array of coffee flavours to choose from, a slick system of getting the line up dealt with every bit as efficiently as Star*ucks and some tasty, albeit pricy, baked goods. Once I got used to what to ask for to get my coffee nailed first time I’d probably quite like it.
