I know scones can be controversial. They can be too crumbly or too dense, there's not a lot of middle ground. I can tell you confidently that Bijou Bakery makes the best scones I've had in my entire life. EVEN THE GLUTEN FREE SCONES ARE BETTER THAN ANY SCONE I'VE EVER HAD. Don't sleep on this place.
The price didn't match the quality: $5 plain croissant, $4.5 cannele & $6 coffee cake. I was really looking forward to an exceptional experience... but no. The service was great.
Above and beyond amazing experience here! The customer service is full of amazing, caring, considerate baker extraordinaires! They turned a mistake into this 5 star review… as well as showing the beauty of connection and humanity-
Grace, who is amazing, gave me a caffeinated coffee when I had ordered a decaffeinated, unbeknownst to me. I sat down to drink it, when she came walking out apologizing saying she was distracted and realized she gave me a caffeinated one instead of the decaf I had ordered.
I was so surprised that someone would remember this, then come out to not only apologize but to make it right by immediately offering not only the correct drink but also offering a pastry on her. Wow!
This experience made their gluten-free lemon scones that have just the right crumbly, yet moist and flavorful yummy-ness all the more amazing! Definitely worth driving in for…👍👍👍
No matter what the name (there's been some recent changes), the bakers at this tiny gem turn out some of the best goods anywhere. They are locally famous for many items but I recently had the single best scone of my life there - moist yet crumbly with enough firmness to dip into the honey butter but with a flavor so sublime that it was a crime to add anything to it.
Truly outstanding and worth a side trip to this charming fishing village/tourist mecca.
Oh my gosh, best almond croissant I have ever experienced! I would eat here so often if I lived nearby but I was only passing through and I'm so glad I googled bakery when heading down the coast because this place knows how to bake!
Awesome atmosphere! Beautiful outside sitting also a huge covered patio! The coffee and pastry is amazing! You're also 200 feet away from the pier and a very very the beautiful sandy beach!
I can confirm the other 5 star reviews. We randomly stopped here on our ca trip, and can’t believe what a gem it is. I have a weakness for croissants, try them at every promising bakery I enter, and even bake them at home. These were possibly the best I’ve every had. The popovers were incredible as well, have inspired me to revisit my own feeble attempts at home. So glad we found this, if only to encourage others to drive-even out of your way-to visit this hidden treasure!
A great place for all drivers of A1 to stop for coffee and bakery. Scones are amazing, brunch options are also offered, as well as dinner. A beautiful peer nearby to finish your stay and continue driving :)
Do order a coffee to go, if you are in a hurry. It took them 25 min to bring us 1 espresso and 1 latte, while we were the first in line and barely no people in the cafe when we ordered. Apparently after us people with “coffee to go” appeared, shifting the priorities. The owner did send us some nice bakery as apology after we asked 2 times where sour coffee was, which is very nice. We just hope they serve coffees quicker in future for other customers :)

Accidentally found this spot, and pretty solid for the area. I was surprised to see popovers and caneles, both decently good versions.
