Slash X Ranch Cafe

Definitely a fun place, and the experience getting there if you are off roading is a blast. That being said, the food is below mediocre. The chicken tenders I ordered were ok, but the fries they came with were soggy and very bland. The "famous" chili had no flavor, I actually had to add ketchup to it to get any kick out of the two bites I took of my chili cheese fries. Service is interesting. Everyone seems very nice, but I think they suffer with the amount of business they get and the mis management of this place. You wait in a single file line for what I am hoping averages out to 30-40 min. We actually had to wait closer to about an hour just to order food. We arrived at about noon, and I didn't start eating til about 2:10, oh yeah my order was lost so my party had already finished their meal by the time I sat down for the first time. When I sat down I realized my chili cheese fries were missing the cheese, so I got back up and prepared to wait again. I finally got the attention of some guy who said didn't work there, but for some reason was walking in and out of the kitchen. He said he would take my fries, and upon handing them over I realized he had a fat wad of chew in his lip. Nice. I know this place has a lot of history, and it's heavily embedded with the off road community. I was even told that you don't go here for the food, but more the experience. Still, would think the management of this place would invest a little in better service, and better ingredients for their faithful customers/community. Just saying, I saw a lot of unhappy faces today.

We are there today and the food was nasty. The fries were cold and saturated in grease and the burger was burnt. It wasn't even that busy. I would not eat here again. The cafe is the only reason we came to ride in the area. If the food was better we would of returned.
Would not recommend to friends.

If you're up for a quick burger and a beer and you want to change your day-to-day routine and do something other than McDonald's or Del Taco. This Is the place to go. Friendly staff, great food, the ambiance is terrific! I suggest this to anybody traveling across the desert or from Barstow to Lucerne Valley. Take the time and stop and visit the people and the great food.

Great stop for off road riders. Plenty of seating outdoor. Weekends waiting time will get long. Menu is small but food is good

The hamburgers at slash X are some of the best on the desert if not the best the only reason why I gave it a 4-star is because they lost my order for my hamburgers it took me two hours to finally eat my experience there other than that was very good the live music was awesome the french fries are really good this is a place you must visit for a really good time other than that I would have given it a five-star hands down but the place was very busy a couple of hundred people ordering hamburgers so to lose an order once in a while is all forgiven

Top their place it's a nice quiet hole in the wall with it's asthetic and most of it's customer base being around motocross or off roading vehicles the service was great and fast and it does sell alcohol as well non alcoholic drinks

Very cool place to end up as a destination when riding in the near by areas. It was 11 miles one way from my camp to Slash X. This made for a great adventure ride with a rewarding beer at my destination!

Good food and great staff

It was freezing outside but inside was cooking! Music was great, service was excellent. Been coming here past 13 years on day after thanksgiving and this was top 2 for great memory.

We went camping and had lunch here. It was an awesome spot to Bring the kids they have a play ground in the back of the restaurant. They also had a live singer. There burgers are so good. Prices are not bad.
