Probably the best meeting place in Flagstaff. Great casual atmosphere to enjoy a few drinks with some friends. They have a large variety of creative and delicious cocktails during the evening (or day depending on when you like to start drinking ;) ) and coffee during the day.

This is a really cool late night spot. Locals in the bar industry seem to hang here at night too. The hotel has a really cool vibe to it and there is another room in the back of the hotel that has pool tables too. If it's late and you still are looking to drink, stop in here for sure. My rating achieved the 5th star due to the pool table access and the 2 separate areas (1 chill bar cocktail area and 1 bigger louder bar with the pool tables)

Good environment and great ambience plus they have one of Flagstaff best dive bars at cocktails and they have class I like it and I always do like my experience when I go there

Dear Monte Vista Hotel/Rendezvous cafe,

I have never in my life been exposed to such discriminatory behavior towards guests, as I have at your cafe yesterday. It was my birthday and I did not have my identification, at which point I was informed by your bouncer (fat guy sitting at the entrance to the pool tables area), that I could not get in. So I politely smiled and acknowledged that I would not, i adhered to every instruction that was given to me by your staff. Ultimately my girlfriend and I decided to sit at one of the tables, and order some coffee and hot chocolate. This business advertises itself as a coffee + spirits. In which case the assumption is that you may go for either. Neither of us were there for alcoholic beverages. Your bouncer having informed us that we were not allowed into that area, proceeded to microphone other staff that there’s this “Indian ******” and to not let him drink at the bars.” Afterwards we were approached by two different members of your staff further informing us to not sit at the tables or the non-bar counters. The last guy to approach us wearing a hat grabbed me by my shoulder to let me know that we could not sit there. At this point I informed him politely that this was not the way to treat guests and we left. I have been to this cafe twice before on visits to flagstaff, and both experiences were good, did not have any issues or having been asked for ID as each time all I ordered were hot chocolates.
This experience was by far the most discriminatory, racist and hostile experience I have ever witnessed in my life from a place of business. (I say that without exaggeration).
It was quite frankly astonishing, and even though I am just one ex-customer, I will be sure to do everything in my power to inform my loved ones and friends to not visit this spot.

I should have posted this review a long time, but I am just starting to 'get involved' in posting reviews consistently. So, I am positing about my experience at Rendezvous from exactly one year ago. This experience has stuck with me in a really negative way. On 12/23/19, my partner and I went to get a drink at Rendezvous around 10pm. We are both queer women of color and the bartender refused to serve us.

When I attempted to order my drink from the bartender, I was very rudely told, "We're too busy. You need to wait." I responded positively and told them it was no problem, as it was clear there were lots of people at the bar. I waited about 10 minutes and then tried to order again since I saw people getting served drinks who arrived at the bar stools after I had already been there waiting. When I attempted to order a drink the second time, the same bartender acknowledged the drink order, so I assumed she would begin making the drink. After a few minutes of her standing there and engaging in conversation with her coworkers in a casual, non-urgent way (presumably when no more customers needed drinks), it became obvious she was not making my drink.

When I asked her for a third time the reason for her not making the drink I ordered, she said something along the lines of "We're still too busy. You'll need to wait longer." She then rolled her eyes. She then continued to chit chat with colleagues while taking a break from making drinks. Within a few minutes, she approached a new customer, took the order, and made the drink for them.

I have no other conclusion to draw other than the fact that we were ignored because of our queerness. I was so angered and hurt, that I could not address the issue in a calm head space in the context of the loud and busy bar, so we simply left and I have not returned since.

It was a very disappointing experience.

The following is a response to Ron Lee, the Assistant. General Manger who responded to my post above:

Ron Lee-

1) The bar's Covid shutdown has nothing to do with my experience. As noted from the content of my review, this experience at Rendezvous happened pre-covid.

2) You "absolutely" do not get to tell me that my experiences and feelings are unfounded. This is not a scientific study and there is nothing to 'prove.' My comments were purely based on how I perceived the situation and the impact it had on me.

Casual bar known for its hot drinks and late hours. It's a great place to meet up with friends and chat in a dark, comfortable setting. Apparently to get the true Flagstaff experience you need to try the Chai Whiskey... which is definitely an interesting combination.

My absolutely friendly bartender is wearing pearls. Bonus points. She makes drinks with love and care. The coffee drinks are so on point. This is my new place to come when I want to treat myself. Cool atmosphere too.

I feel so let down by Rendezvous. I was so excited to come back after the pandemic, but I just found out they fired all their long term staff from before the pandemic to bring on a whole new bartending staff that they’re paying less. Part of the reason I loved rendezvous so much was the staff, who remembered me as a regular. I care what happens to them. I also care that the new staff likely won’t be paid as well as they should be. I get that the pandemic has been hard for all businesses, but rendezvous should value the employees that brought them so much business pre-pandemic. As said above, I was so excited to come back to my favorite bar, but now I feel that it’s a lie without the original staff who worked there for years.

If you are an tourist, from out of town, or just a person of color DO NOT go to this place for you are not welcomed. This place caters to their regular intown obnoxious, arrogant, immature collage hipsters. After being there for only a few minutes with my boyfriend we could feel the hostility from both the employees and their customer, noticing their stares. When we asked to speak with a manager, we were told there was no manager nor supervisor available and they refused to let us know who was in charge for the night shift. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, there are other tourist friendly place within the same area that will make you feel welcomed, like ILL ROSSO’s, they had inviting people, good drinks and food. Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND.

This place has good drinks, their best drink deals are on Thursday, they have classy drinks for cheap. Check it out! It's also great that you can take drinks over to Monte V where they have pool tables, live music, darts, arcade games, etc.
