Lariat has the most consistent roast and flavor of any coffee we’ve ever had. We prefer the Outlaw blend for our daily espresso drinks. We order our coffee from 200 miles away it’s THAT GOOD! Thank you to Lori and the crew! Our mornings would not be the same without Lariat!
I love Lariat Coffee! I live in Colorado, but I order all my coffee from Lariat - every morning, I have a perfect cup of dark roasted, rich, flavorful, (never bitter) coffee, and I don't know what I'd do without them! The owners are fabulous and so responsive, I wish I lived closer. Do yourself a favor and march yourself right over if you love dark rich coffee - this won't disappoint!
I started drinking Lariat coffee over 15 years ago when we lived in Mazama. Back in the Seattle area since 2016, I've been ordering the Cowboy Mud coffee ever since as my mornings just don't start out right without it! The other roasts are just as flavorful and good, but I like the deep dark roast of my Mud!
I have been ordering cowboy mud French Roast for years - makes a great cup of espresso, drip, or pour over. The decaf and seasonal blends are also great for variety, but have not replaced my Cowboy Mud addiction.
The Ethiopia light roast is genuinely my current favorite coffee from anywhere! It tastes so sweet and you can actually taste the blackberry notes even using a cheap grinder. The rest of this review is for coffee nerds only!
I recommend using a v60 with the tetsu kasuya 4:6 method I used 212F water with 30g of coffee to 450g water, or a 1:15 ratio 1st pour -> 70g :45 -> 180g 1:30 -> 270g 2:15 -> 360g 3:00 -> 450g very gently scrape the coffee from the walls of the filter paper and gently give the bed a swirl for even extraction in the last pour. try to finish the drawdown by 5:20.
Traveled over Hwy 20 to Winthrop this weekend to pick up my daughter from her week with Grandma and Grandpa. Saturday I made a trip downtown to visit my (former) favorite coffee roasters, after a bag of my favorite roast, Spring Ride, since I forgot to ask my folks to bring some over last time they came to the west side. I window shopped around the store with my daughter while the man at the counter pleasantly chatted and helped the couple at the counter. When they finished up, he greeted us and I said I would like a pound of Spring Ride. He RUDELY sneared that Spring Ride was a SPRING seasonal roast, and that couldn't happen. Sor-ry rude-o dude-o...Spring ended five whole days ago, I wasn't aware it had already sold out. I then asked if it would be possible to get it in a 5- pound bag (I was informed by a lady two or three years ago that I could get it that way when it was out of season, and even ordered it that way in 2020 when things were locked down for COVID and travel wasn't an option for me). He asked when I would want it, and I innocently said, well now would be good... to which he actually laughed at me. He never offered an ordering option. He never once attempted to engage pleasantly.
I have no idea how you stock your store. I have no idea where you roast. I highly encourage you to find someone else to staff your front desk!
I have been mail ordering Cowboy Mud for the past 3 years. You can't make a bad batch of coffee. It makes me so happy. Thank you so much for helping me start my day on a high note. :)
We've gotten to know Bob and Lori over the past 14 years as they opened the year we moved here.We asked the locals where to get good coffee and we were advised to "try that new place" We have enjoyed their presence in the valley, their products, especially Cowboy Mud, and their smiling faces. We are moving to Arizona and will miss seeing them but, thankfully, they will ship us a supply of Cowboy Mud with just a phone call.
BY FAR.... this is THEE BEST coffee ever!!! Starbucks who? Yawn. Seattle's what? (whatever). If you are like me, and like the REAL DEAL, go with Lariat Coffee Roasters. Our favorite is Cowboy Mud, their dark French Roast. Smooth and rich. We enjoy it both starting out each morning, and also for a little extra kick in our step mid afternoon.
Once you open that bag, and take a long drag you'll be hooked.

Big surprise for a small town to have such a tasty, bold coffee - these roasters have it figured out. Will be back!
