Best coffee in Northern VA. I travel the world and get coffee everywhere. They could increase how late they are open that’s my only complaint. Staff is friendly as well. Atmosphere is solid. All staples of a good coffee shop.

I really want to like them because there’s not many good places in this area. Their beans are good quality but the baristas are really inconsistent. Often let the espresso shots die before they finish steaming the milk, and warm drinks come out lukewarm a lot of the time. Some of the baristas need a bit more training but everyone is nice and the coffee is still better than anywhere else close by.

A sweet little coffee shop displaying their roaster by the window. Immediately you'll notice the place is pretty narrow and all the tables are occupied with people on laptops (a few were there with their sandwiches and coffee), so we took our order to go. No outdoor seating. The decor is a little industrial, slightly rustic but reminiscent of an art studio, in my opinion. The back wall displays their merch. The staff and service was great--friendly, attentive and helpful. I got the Vanilla Latte which was pretty good. They even sell their own beans here, too! I'd recommend you check it out if you're in the area.

Overall a nice place to get a light snack/drink. Staff is friendly, but the wait can be a bit long. Pricey for what you get and the parking can be a major pain during weekends or other prime times.

This is an art to them…buy yet a humble eagerness to share …no hipster snootiness…just a simple love of coffee

First of all it was nice trying this place. But the place does not have too many tables. You may not always find good seating if you are planning to do your work in the cafe. They have different coffee options, their special Cardimom latte was pretty good, I think everyone must try it. But their sandwiches are expensive and overpriced. It would make more sense if the sandwiches were a little bit cheaper, because they were not that special.

Excellent experience, pleased to find kouign amann here as it is my favorite pastry. I was told they make it fresh in the back daily and after having so many (including at Dominique’s) this place gets my stamp of approval. A must visit! Coffee was perfect as well, will be back!

Only a four star bc I wanted a gigantic latte and they’re all one size, and more breakfast sammie options.
The coffee? Lots for sale, they offer classes, and the staff CRANKS out dranks. On a Saturday morning the line was 15 min long but I got my drink 3 minutes after I ordered.

Really enjoyed this coffee shop! Coffee was great - I had one of the speciality drinks (I believe honey lavender latte) as well as a sandwich (spicy veggie). Both delicious.
Also really love the vibes inside the shop. Lots of open space, light and green! They even sell some of the plants that are in the space I believe.
Only thing I had trouble with was finding the shop initially, as I’d never been before. The parking lot is to the back of the plaza and you can see most of the other shop’s and restaurant’s signs, but Rare Bird is really tucked away in the corner a bit. Either way, I found it and happy I did!

I love it. Their coffee quality is so good! The place is a good choice for a meeting or study.
